One of my favorite resources
As an interior designer and stylist, I have quite a few references books on my shelf. This, however, is my favorite. I've been a fan of Domino magazine since the very first issue and am so sad that it is no longer. This is a great supplement to all of those back issues. You get photos of beautiful rooms as inspiration and all kinds of design tips. There is also a great list or resources at the ...

...the perennial gale of creative destruction
Mitchell and Coles have done businesses a tremendous service in writing this excellent book. They have done so by providing a practical toolbox of ideas with which to stimulate entrepreneurs, business leaders and managers to enhance and improve their business prospects in today's very competitive marketplaces. I must admit to having struggled with this book for a long time. Not because of ...

Really Great Comic
I think this is a great comic. It tells amazingly well the story of The Count of Monte Cristo. The drawing is wonderful, and Steven Grant did a fantastic job on rewriting it. Steven Grant is a really great writer, he wrote the Punisher, he wrote X-Man, and he also wrote some wrestling comics, like Mankind, the Undertaker, the Rock, and other ones. He also wrote a few Hardy Boy books (#3, #62, ...

Great Guide
I am only about half way through this book and already have learned numerous things about the design of Java as a language and about proper usage of said language. This book is going to be a staple in my programming library and a book recommended to anyone I know working with Java. I am also looking forward to the second edition which is slated to be released in May sometime.

Read the Book
Best, most illuminating book I've read in 10 years. Will change forever the the lack of effort in deciding your eating habits. It has no agenda save to educate the public as to the effects of their heretofore unconscious food decisions. A book that creates a life changing inflection point. Tom Goggin

This book is absolutely awesome. It's very organized, which is my number one need in a book. It's narrowed down, it's technical, but Ed writes things in a way that just sticks. The way this book starts out is very logical, it's a progression. It starts you off with: -TCP/IP(Which is a must) -Windows Overview(Which is a must) -Unix/Linux Overview(Get the picture?) Then it goes into ...

Boy Scout Handbook for Grown-ups
This is a great book for anyone to read but I think for Americans in particular, and here's why I say that. We have lived in a fairly safe environment when compared with the rest of the world for so long that I suspect that many of our survival skills may have become rusty. Notable exceptions would include Oklahoma City, Katrina, 9-11, at least one of which immobilized the government as well as ...

A remarkable book by a remarkable man
I was enraptured by the descriptive words of Craig Mullaney's life as a West Point grad, Rhode scholar in Oxford and as a soldier serving in Afghanistan. His stories are poignant, honest and thought provoking. Having met Craig, he is brilliant but approachable. His book is equally as engaging. This ought to be on every school's summer reading list. Book clubs should jump at the chance to read and ...

A masterpiece of unsettling but deeply absorbing originality
John Ajvide Lindqvist's Let Me In (aka Let The Right One In, depending on the edition) is absolutely one of the best novels of its kind that I've read in years. To attempt to categorize it as simply a horror novel or a vampire novel is not to give it its full due. The most apt comparison I can make is that it's something of a cross between Stephen King at his very best and, oddly enough, Henry ...

A great book on the battle for the Supreme Court
This is a great book if you love the Supreme Court and the history of our country. It is an entire book on Marbury v. Madison. I had no idea how close we came to making the Supreme Court a weak sister to Congress and the Executive Branch. The book details the Judiciary Act of 1801 which created a whole bunch of new judgeships (and Circuit Courts of Appeal) by the Federalist Congress right ...

I am an outsider who enjoys reading in this genre (James Stewart, Bryan Burroughs, Michael Lewis), and I found this book to be engaging & very readable. This is a Stage 3 title in a series which contains some of the best classic stories retold in English. Each book includes an introduction to the author and story, a glossary of new words and exercise material (comprehension and discussion questions). Reading the other reviews here answered one of my questions. As a Baltimore native, when I read any of Lippman's work, in addition to loving her presentation and story, there's the thrill of recognition - I know that street corner! I know that liquor store! I see now that not being a Baltimore native doesn't detract a bit. Besides being a gripping story (I forced myself to ration it to 2 ...

This groundbreaking work is the first internationally published book to examine the link between a protein in the milk we drink and a range of serious illnesses, including heart disease, Type 1 diabetes, autism, and schizophrenia. Great for statheads and casual fans alike
Those who dismiss the Baseball Prospectus as strictly for "seamheads" and stat nerds are making a mistake. The player profiles are not only thorough, they're cheekily funny and chock full of pop culture nuggets.
