The Great Moonshine Conspiracy Trial of 1935

Moonshine is a good read
The Great Moonshine Conspiracy Trial of 1935 is an engaging look at an infamous incident in American and Virginian history. I thoroughly enjoyed the accounts from the participants in their own words taken from actual trial transcripts. A fascinating snapshot into Depression-era jurisprudence. While much has been written about Northern rum-runners and gangsters, this is the story of the good ...

The fate of a "mixed race" child in Nazi Germany.
Irene Eckler was the illegitimate daughter of an "Aryan" man, August Landmesser, and a Jewish woman, Irma Eckler; and this is the terrible account of how the Nazis, who condemned all such liaisons as Rassenschande ("racial defilement"), tore such a family apart. Worth a look
This a very nice book. There are some great pictures in here. I own a lot of Elvis books and there are some pictures in here I haven't seen before. The text is a bit gossipy but okay. It's not an in depth study of the King but good coffee table fodder. According to this, he really did sow his wild oats in Texas - I wonder how many little Elvi are going about? It's interesting to see ...

The best yet
I grew up poor (though not as poor as the Presleys). There were 6 people living in a 2-bedroom home. That Elvis slept with his parents (it gets cold in northern Mississippi and Tennessee) doesn't really shock or surprise me. What does surprise me is that someone like Dee Stanley, who put her own sons in foster care so she could pursue Vernon Presley, would condemn them. I am also not ...

Great Book!
This is must if you want to know about the history of Iraq. Not many people know that Iraq was once a monarchy.
