A Fun, Hands-on Toolkit Assembled by an Expert
I went to the bookstore a few weeks ago to buy a book, as my girlfriend was working on her Dreamweaver CS3 course daily, and I really wanted to move my own Photoshop work forward, being an amateur photographer. I've been shooting for decades, picking up bits and pieces of knowledge about using the camera, and using only those pieces of Photoshop that I needed to at the time. I knew from ...

I really liked this book. The plot wasn't completely original, but it had it's own twist. It was very worth reading and I am really excited about the sequel.

Bashing
I read so many reviews on here that say that this book is filth and a horrible buy and that whomever is interested should seek professional help and advice. I am currently seeing a licensed therapist and conferred with her over whether or not this would help and she supported it 100%. Yes admittedly there is such a thing as 'bad therapy' where they foster and encourage mistaken beliefs of abuse ...

The Pregnancy Journal
This is the best book a newly pregnant woman could own. Not only does it have interesting and valuable information about the growth of your baby, your own body changes, nutritional facts and parenting tips but it has spaces for you to record your own personal journey through your pregnancy that you can keep forever and even show your unborn baby when it's grown. This is the second time I have ...

Must read book
Macolm Gladwell's approach in this book is that of an observer. His deductions are thoroughly logical and offer a refreshing alternative to traditional thought. This book was a joy to read. I am also half way through his second book entitled Blink. As an author he has explained in both these books what other observers have innately noticed about human behavior and explained these ideas in a ...

Exceptionally Researched and Written!
I read this book several years ago and found it well researched, written and easy to understand. Deborah Tannen is a linguist who clearly addresses how and why women and men communicate differently. She explains that women communicate primarily to establish connections and negotiate relationships while men talk as a primary means to preserve independence and to negotiate and maintain status in ...

"No one knows what the shadow knows."
This collection of 65 essays from a wide array of Jungian practioners is designed to give us a window into the mysterious world that lives within each of us; the shadow. Each of these essays, in their own unique ways, throws the lid off of our own personal "Pandora's box" and brings us face to face with the disowned and despised parts of who we are: sexual urges, rage, resentment, arrogance, ...

Historical romance - the real thing!
I am an avid reader of historical fiction and usually dabble in non-fiction a few times a year. Venice seems to be a pull lately, and this wonderful and detailed account of two young lovers during the last days of Venice was a treat. First, it is thrilling to read a real life account of a love forbidden by class and social snobbery, and two people who could not help themselves but to risk ...

Underpinning the future
If you are interested in the future (and we all should be) read this book. It is one of those books that makes you realise that everything you were ever taught at school, and a lot of what you learned after school, was pretty much a waste of time, because life is simply not the way they said (and are still saying today). The Field provides a wealth of scientific evidence that supports a view of ...

I couldn't stop laughing
Fantastic book! I'm a huge fan of Jon Stewart (I hope he reads this!!). The professor's comments were interesting, necessary, but could have been more 'in line' with the text, that is, more humorous. Sometimes they were too long, in my opinion. Love the picture on the cover too. Overall, this book must be read.

I like Historical Diaries But This One Is Especially Meaningful
It's often said in tones of this-is-true-but-it's-also-heresy that Rose Wilder Lane, daughter of Laura and Almanzo Wilder, is the real unsung heroine in the Little House books, because while she let her mother have credit for the famous series, it was Rose, via her careful, invisible editing and re-writes, that turned cheery memoirs into beloved classics. I suspect that's true, but in the case of ...
