Stedman's word books necessary for transcription
In reading the other review here, I get the feeling the reviewer isn't using this book correctly. The stated purpose and intent of each of the Stedman's word books is, quoting the publisher's preface, "to the wordsmiths of the healthcare professions---medical transcriptionists, medical editors and copy editors," etc. In doing medical transcription, I have *never* had to abbreviate "mercury," as ...

"What does 'rky' mean? Oops!"
Since the current U.S. Administration saw fit to cease publication of CHART NO. 1, the government's own guide to reading maritime maps, back in 2000 (maybe they figured Dubai might pick up the slack around our harbors), HOW TO READ A NAUTICAL CHART is an absolutely crucial educational volume for those of us new to reading charts. It's all here. Nigel Calder does a splendid job of taking the ...

I have found every abbreviation I have ever looked for.
As a court reporter, I am constantly faced with deciphering doctors' medical "lingo." This book has been an absolute God-send for me. I have found every abbreviation I have ever looked for. It is the most thorough book I have come across for medical abbreviations, and I have an extensive reference library. The eponym section is not the best I've seen, but overall, this book is a ...

Super Source
Medicine is not an exact science, but it doesn't mean that doctors (and nurses) can make up their own abbreviations or use ones that have three conflicting meanings! I am now able to make them aware how dangerously they are practicing, and the backup source to point it out. Since they now "borrow your book Marylou", transcribing orders is not only safer, but less stressfull as it has cut down on ...

I use it all the time. It is easy to use, small, and very easy to read. I reccomened it to any one in the medical field that ever questions what the abbreviations are that their Dr's use.
