Good CPA Exam Review
I don't have the 2008 version, I used the 2006 version and took FAR's exam on Nov. 2007 and the only thing that has really changed since then is Pensions. As far as the Wiley material is concerned, I think that it will more than prepare you for the FAR's section. I used Wiley exclusively for the FAR's section and I used some Becker material for the REG section. I passed both on the first ...

Inspiring, Exhilarating Yet Heartrending
From my vantage point as a black CPA, this book is at once inspiring and uplifting yet heartrending and depressing. After having read about the trials and tribulations of the pioneers of my profession and of my race(who were/are heroic in some sense), I feel compelled to take advantage of today's opportunity out of respect for what they've done to pave the way for those who have followed. The ...

Strategic Review!
I purchased this book along with the Bisk CPA Review manual as well. The Wiley review was much more "readable" and seemed a bit more strategic in its review methods. While the Bisk book is a bit more comprehensive, I felt that the Wiley book was a better choice for me.

Excellent much needed update
In the past, Wiley CPA exam review books were huge. They were about 50% larger than they are now. The main complaint was that I just want to pass the exam, not get a perfect on it. They had way too much material covered in them. This time around, it seems they took that advice to heart, and the books are arranged in modules, grouped so that it's easier to study. Whew! Finally, they ...

Got 30 Minutes - Get an Education
OK. I admit it. I'm a sucker for any book that say 10 easy steps to this or 15 ways to do that or create this in no time - or 30 minutes to tighter abs. I mean, who has time today to sit down and read some tome on whatever. So I hade to read Michael Hanley's book '30 Minutes with a Certified Public Accountant - Effective Tax Planning for the Micro-business' and I wasn't disappointed. I've had ...

It's Simple
Two decades ago, I passed the Uniform CPA Examination. The Gleim volume was one of several review references which aided in understanding the material. The CPA Exam is a unique creature. It requires that the material be understood fairly comprehensively. Being familiar with the material is not enough. A good review text helps to structure the material so that problem solving is a much ...

Great! Great! Great!
This book is one of the best romance novels I've ever read. It is funny, sexy, romantic all of the things that make a great book. If you're like me you don't want to keep reading the same descriptions over and over again, well this book didn't have any of that nonsense, it is very well written. The characters are true to life, believable, engaging. I think these people really exist. Believe ...

The Essential Reference for Law Firm Leadership
I first read this book about 2 years ago. I keep it within arm's reach of my desk and refer to it often, still. I've read one reviewer who stated that this book was the modern almanac of best business practices. I agree completely. I run my own small law firm. We have implemented many of this book's practices with great success and profitablilty. Primary among them is fixed fee ...

Excellent Book on Selling Non-tangibles, Don't miss it!
An excellent book, don't miss it! When you are selling non-tangibles, clients purchase the "PROVIDER" of the service or product, Not "the service or product." Professional selling is easy once this concept is fully understood. This book serves as a good guide to any professional or otherwise who wishes to build a stronger business and better sales. The processes are clearly laid out, make ...

Excellent, focused and great help in passing CPA exam.
Book is very well organized (part of the detailed 4-book series from Pat Delaney, published by Wiley & Sons) and makes studying by topic easy to follow and understand. Each topic is followed by related questions, very similar to those on the actual CPA exam. This book is more detailed than Delaney's 2 book set, and is specific to each of the 4 CPA exam sections. If you have passed some of the ...

Considerable Understanding of Professional Ethics
The book is easy reading and gets to the core of the complicated topic of business Ethics. Many examples are given where total business failures resulted, due to intentional or accidental disregard of conflicting issues regarding business ethics. The book should be required reading for students as well as business professionals and would be a useful pocket reference, especially where ethical ...

This book is *not* just for accountants!
Just finished reading, marking, dog-earing this book! This is an excellent sourcebook for anyone, particularly business professionals, who want perspective on e-Commerce and e-Business. In this five-chapter book, only the last chapter or two is directed to helping accountants and other assurance-service professionals understand their ...

Attention small business owenrs! Read it, study, and become expert in its contents. A good defense is a sound offense.
I liked this book. I found it to be well written and well outlined. As a CPA I found it to be sound and an easy read. It is insightful. And it provides an in-depth coverage of how the A/P function in an accounting system should work AND how it can be bent in order to perpetrate a fraud or frauds. Why is this subject so important? Because accounts payable intimately relates to a company's cash ...

New Irish Novel: Hugh O'Donnell's '11 Emerald Street'
Now listen to me, Mr Hugh O'Donnell. I'm a very busy man. I'm not important, I'm just busy. I only read novels during my summer holidays beside a swimming pool somewhere very warm. Somebody told me I had to read '11 Emerald Street' so I gave in to temptation and reluctantly abandoned marking mounds of exercise books and writing politically correct, positively motivating, reports on two hundred ...

Deserves more attention than it gets
When I first saw this series, I have to admit... I was a little dismissive of it. All I saw was the subject of superheroes lives & thought "Oh, this is a ripoff of 'Noble Causes'", which made me suspicious of it. After all, there's a lot of people who have made their own versions of popular comics & characters. After reading only about 10 of the strips, I realized that I owed this strip a HUGE ...
