Very excited about the book!
The writer of the book, Jeffrey Arnett, is my professor of the class Adolescent Devenlopment. I just had my first class and it was already very impressive. I haven't read the book yet but I have a very high expectance to it. I will comment more towards the end of the semester.

Increasing understanding of Aging
Hellen Bee is able to carry one through the years of adulthood through many avenues. Using scientific studies she interprets the data in meaningful ways. Inclusion of personal accounts and her conversational style make the reading interesting. The book continually ties previous ideas to new concepts giving a nice continuity. I especially enjoyed her occasional insertions of the not-so-scientific ...

a critical guide to understanding years 18 to 25
This book is a critical guide. It is useful for understanding the experiences, the challenges, and the potential of those who have left adolescence and have not yet entered adulthood. I have read this book thoroughly and have recommended it to many. As a professor of psychology, I assigned this book to my students last semester. The reviews of the book were unanimous-- Dr. Arnett 'has some ...

This is a great motivational book for someone on the verge of entering into adulthood. Dr. Baker pinpoints specific skills needed for a variety of "life situations" by catagorizing them and dealing with them individually. It starts out with mapping out assets and challenges. There are activity pages to use when anger is an issue and suggestions on calming ones self. The book includes a 16 page ...

Aging and Older Adulthood (with InfoTrac )
Joan T Erber
Wadsworth Publishing
, 2004
Filled with examples that reflect the diversity of the world we live in, Erber's accessible, yet science-based book focuses on research and theory that add to our understanding of aging and older adulthood. Erber organizes the book around complementary 'big point-of-view' theories that focus on successful aging and successful adaptation (such as 'selective optimization with compensation') as well as on those that emphasize matching the person's ...

Excellent Book
I highly recommend this book for all who want to gain understanding about life and what it means to "grow up". Just because our bodies get big, doesn't mean we become adults. Learning what it means to live as an adult, make wise choices for healthy living and gain a deeper connection with our soul, is what this book is all about. As a counselor, this book has been very helpful to many of ...

If the Shoe Fits
People who read Arrested Adulthood could almost accuse Cote of being a conspiracy theorist--if he didn't state his case so convincingly. He argues that not only have traditional models and definitions of adulthood gone by the wayside, but they have been replaced by a new model (or perhaps non-model) which threatens to create a society in which clinical narcissism is the norm, not an aberration. ...

In Identity Development: Adolescence through Adulthood, Kroger (2000) focuses on the early, middle, and late periods of both adolescence and adulthood. Furthermore, Kroger writes of the necessity for additional studies concerning ...

Good introduction to the `Big 5' model and personality development
Chapter 1 describes the well-known `Five Factor Model' (FFM) of personality traits and the robust result that in most people, personality changes little after the age of 30. Other theories of adulthood in the work of Freud, Jung, Erikson and others are also reviewed. Chapter 2 is an interesting tutorial on the trait approach to personality, which the authors did so much to develop and ...
Straight and Devious Pathways from Childhood to Adulthood

Childhood personality and behaviour forecast adult life - but many children with severe behaviour problems nevertheless turn into competent and successful adults. Who recovers, and who goes on to become a schizophrenic, a criminal, or an alcoholic? This book presents the findings from recent major longitudinal studies in psychopathology, extending from childhood into adulthood.
