Interesting and well-written
Tom Wolfe takes us through part of the acid-movement of the 60's with Ken Kesey (author of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest") and company as they embark on their journey across America to popularize acid. Wolfe writes in a way that sort of makes you feel that you are on acid too. His writing style in this book is very unique and he has an incredible way of describing things which is one thing I ...

Helped me alot!
I used this book as well as several others (i'm guilty of buying TOO many books...)! This book very much helped me with the detail I needed to do very well in areas I didn't remember from Medical School. As a Pediatrics Resident, I highly recommend this book to fill in "the blanks" so to speak.

The Emotional First Aid Kit / Bariatric Surgery
I am a Bariatric Coordinator at a medical center in Nebraska. I have many books on bariatric surgery related to care and experience of the patient through all phases of surgery and aftercare. This by far is the best book I have found. It is very forthright and practical! I have members of my support group reviewing several copies that I ordered. We are strongly considering using this book for ...

This is one of the books Michael Hyatt recommends be in your Y2K library. It is the standard reference for dealing with injury and illness until the patient can get to a doctor. The odds are that every day, people will be injured and you will want to be able to keep them alive and from additional injury. Take Step 2 Early and Use This Book
This is the only book you need for to crush Step 2. Packed with great facts. I read this book twice and did the usmleworld question bank and my score was nearly perfect. Take Step 2 early because residency programs are much, much more interested in your score than before. I saw my score circled and starred on several interviewers sheets. My friend is going into surgery and took his exam ...

realistic
although i agree that the kaplan q bank and usmle-world are invaluable resources for step one, i personally hate hate HATE to study on the computer. this book was a good solution. i found it true to the exam, and suited me and my need to have something physically in front of me to scribble on. solidly reviewing the questions in this book -- 2 or 3 times -- would be a good basis for taking step ...

I love this book!
I foster cats for a local shelter and have cats of my own. This book is very easy to understand and gives you very detailed information on whatever is ailing your pet. It has more serious ailments such as a heat stroke and more casual ones such as vomiting up a hairball. It also has a handy chart that tells you what human medicines will work for your pets. I highly recommend it.

Really Helpful
It's a lot of help while you're going through your surgery rotation. As much as I would have liked to have read the text book, there isn't a lot of time due to the long hours of work. This book helps fill in the gaps. Some things might be too simplified, so it might be helpful to supplement with the required books.

Excellent Treatise on First Aid Procedures
This is an excellent, detailed guide to first aid procedures. It is clearly written and contains plenty of photographs. It covers CPR, Mouth to Mouth, Shock, Burns, Bleeding, and a number of other medical conditions (heart attack, asthma, etc.). All in all, it is a comprehensive treatise on first aid procedures. However, do not buy this book and expect to refer to it in a **dire** ...

A Must Have Resource for clinical rotations!
I love the fact that this book has just a few pages dedicated to each discipline which allows for it to be read rather quickly. It is perfect for those 10 minute periods of down time you frequently get on rotations. This book doesn't dawdle on the tiny details, but it focuses on the key points needed to succeed without leaving important information out. A must have for any 3rd or 4th year ...

Superb source for beyond first aid
It's no surprise that every reviewer has given this excellent and comprehensive book five stars. Written by William Forgey, MD, former president of the Wilderness Medicine Society it goes beyond first aid, dealing with situations where you cannot merely administer initial care and then count on a rapid evacuation. Forgey writes with a light hand; he avoids jargon and has a dry sense of humor. ...

First Aid for the NBDE part 1 is at the top of my list when it comes to study aides for the national boards. The guide covers all aspects of the exam, as well as includes figures and diagrams referenced from other commonly used textbooks that are vital for success on the exam. The organization is its best feature, whereas the outlined format is easy to follow. As for the text, it is very concise, ...

I am a third year medical student and just finished my Pediatrics rotation. I felt like this book hit the highlights of what was covered on the shelf exam. I wish that I would have started reading it sooner, but due to a rerouting problem I didn't get the book until about 2 weeks before the shelf exam.
