Do The Easy Things First!
American middle-school and high-school pupils continually lag their peers in other developed countries - especially in mathematics - despite years of decreasing class size, building ornate new structures, "new" math, etc. However, these efforts are bound to fail if what goes on inside the classrooms is poorly structured. The "bad news" is that we are often blind to the most familiar aspects ...

Great Buy
I recently used this book for a class in college and loved it. The way it takes you through the programs step by step, then takes you through while you actually do it is great. It also gives a wealth of information about terminology and has some nice review questions at the end of the chapters. It covers a lot of ground wihtout actually bogging you down with a ton of work.

tasty recipies!
I first thought this book was a waste since alot of the information was redundant. Then I tried some of the recipies and loved it. Alot of tasty recipies that make you feel like you are eating healthy without sacraficing a great meal with great taste. I altered some recipies to my own taste while still keeping it low fat. My family has no idea on how much healthier they are eating!

Fun and informative
I have to admit, I hate the soft sciences, but I had to take Sociology 101 for a requirement. Thank goodness this was the textbook assigned to the course! Everything is perfectly clear and it's actually really fun to read. Even if you're not taking a course, I'd recommend this book to anyone who would like to call themselves knowledgable. It is a fun read, and you'll come out so much more ...

Classic romance and tale of a man who isn't exactly what he seems
Set in the Roarin' Twenties, this unforgetable classic is a romance as well as the story of Jay Gatsby. F. Scott Fitzgerald told the story in a unique way, through the voice of Nick Carraway, an impartial aquaintace of both Gatsby and Daisy. Details of the golden era come alive in vivid descriptions of fashion, music, and decor, carrying the reader back to a time of bootleg liquor and the ...

Philosophy made easy...
I bought this book for my Philosophy 101 class. I tried to sell it back but the bookstore wouldn't let me. Although I hated the idea that I wouldn't be getting my 30 bucks back, little did I know that this book would serve as an important tool for my Literary/Criticism class (which I am currently taking). It definitely clarifies complicated theories with a touch of humor added to the ...

student
This book is definitely worth the money. I am the type of person who learns better from reading than listening to (mostly) boring lectures. For that type of person this book is perfect. It is one of the best science books I've ever used. The main thing to say about this book is that it is very readable. The chapters are relatively short (15-25 pages) and are broken up into nice length ...

Straightforward, TASTY recipes; many more than you get in the basic book
I was very surprised to see the other review for this book, but then I saw the line about the person NOT owning it. I preordered this book, and like the other reviewer, felt that the recipes would be the same...however, I forgot to cancel the preorder, so lo and behold, it arrived at my house in mid-December. This has become my FAVORITE diet cookbook! Unlike the South Beach Diet cookbooks, ...

Comprehensive
This is the most comprehensive foreign language book I've seen. It's simple, a 6th grader could teach themselves Spanish with this book. Open it, read it, and memorize it. I had a terrible time with French and was not looking foward to learning Spanish, but I picked it up immediately as I went along with this book. When the semester was over, I spent the summer reading the rest of it at my ...

Ryan's book would make a wonderful addition to any entrepreneur's library. It discusses how he founded iContact and how he grew sales to more than $1,000,000 within 3 years. It also highlights the challenges Ryan and his team encountered with raising venture capital, hiring key staff members, crafting online marketing initiatives, developing products and putting systems in place to ensure ...

This manual (utilizing the cat as the primary dissection specimen) uses the same four-color art program as the fourth edition of Saladin's Anatomy & Physiology and follows the same order of presentation. The 47 exercises provide a comprehensive overview of the human body and present the core elements of the subject matter.

impressive and thorough
An undergraduate, freshman level biology class I took used this as its textbook. It is thorough and detailed, packed with information on a broad range of biological topics, written in a highly accessible manner that requires no special training to understand. It covers such topics as the cell, heredity, evolution, plants, animals, and ecology. It's not quite as well written as the finest ...

Not the greatest, but it works
I wasn't a big fan of some of the questions and lab experiments we had to do with this manual, but it got me through the lab class and I ended up with an A. So, it was useful, but kinda dry and boring.

A Classic on its Subject
This is a very good, probably the best textbook available in the U.S. regarding the topic of history and philosophy of education, intended for undergraduate students. The authors did minor updateds to the previous edition. Since there has been little change as to history and philosophy of education in the last few years, you do not have to buy the last edition unless your instructor requires ...

Worth it.
Take the plunge. This really is a great introduction to philosophy--If that is what you want to read this book for, then as of yet I have not found a better book. The plot can be gimmicky, but you won't care if you'll realize it is just a little flavor to move the book along while tackling certain philosophical questions outside of history and instead inside the actual novel. There are over ...

Leaving a light footprint on the good earth
I re-read Leopold's Sand County Almanac every couple of years or so. It's not just a beautifully poetic celebration of the land. Its defense of a new sense of moral responsibility to the environment, spelled out in the book's "The Land Ethic," is a bracing tonic against the modern temptation to take the biosphere for granted. In these days of global warming, fossil fuel depletion, and ...

Carefully revised and edited for greater accessibility, the Fifth Edition incorporates new ...
