Anonymous Bible Study Review
We recently kicked off our Fall Bible study at church, using Alicia's series "Anonymous: Jesus' Hidden Years and Yours." Sixty women were left speechless, a feat by anyone's standards! Alicia can pack more depth and volume into one sentence then most of us can hope to write in three pages! The corresponding study guide adds tremendous depth and underscore to the teachings of "Anonymous", ...

A "guide" to the 12 steps
This book can be a bit overwhelming at times, but so is recovery at times. I work the steps with my sponsor and depend on this book as a guide on how to work each step. It's very detailed, which I found very helpful, especially on the 4th and 5th step. Very helpful getting started on each step, and very helpful to deal with each step completely. Just remember, it's a guide, get what you can out ...

This book has saved hundreds of thousands of liveslives!
This book tells exactly how hundreds of thousands of real alcoholics have been saved from alcoholism. How can anyone be critical of that if it works? Only the stupid, or ignorant can criticize a book which has literally saved so many people from certain death (not to mention the thousands more they could have victimized). It is truly a miracle, by virtue of all of the people it has saved. True, ...

great recovery tool.....for the non-alcohol drug abuser
this is a must-have resource for those whose drug of choice is not alcohol, but some other drug (cocaine, meth, marijuana, Rx meds, etc.) Like the book Alcoholics Anonymous, it explains the foundations of recovery for those starting their journey into sobriety and recovery. After reading this, I would encourage the person to read other recovery materials, especially from the Hazelden ...

Codependence Through a 12 Step Lens
Written anonymously by veterans of the "CoDA" 12 Step program that began in the late 1980s, the CoDA "big book" is strongly influenced by and in line with the object relations theory of psychodynamic and attachment theory pros like Harry Stack Sullivan, Donald Winnicott, Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion, Heinz Kohut, Otto Kernberg, William Meissner, Lorna Benjamin, John Bowlby and Diana Baumrind. ...

Healing emotional hunger one step at a time
Before the image of an OA meeting being filled with obese people fills your mind ... think again. An overeater can be anyone ... fashion model ... successful accountant in a size 8 ... fitness trainer ... midly plump dental assistant ... anyone. The causes and reasons are different. Overeating is not a lack of willpower but an emotional relationship to food that has someone not know when to ...

Sole Sisters stick together
My friend loaned me this book and strongly recommended it. Not being a shoe fanatic, I wasn't going to read it but she shares my taste in books. I'm glad I took her advice. Although a bit too Pollyanna-ish in the end, "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" was a fun story and primo chick lit: shopping, wine, weight loss, romance, and revenge. Does it get better than this? When three women with an obsession for ...

This book illustrates a way of live
In having some personal experience in alcoholism and having now recovered from that aspect of my life for over 20 years now I can only say that the program of recovery outlined in this book and in AA has resulted in a life for me beyond what I ever thought I could become. This doesn't mean it will work that way for you or that this is the only solution but for me it worked with due diligence but ...

Arrived as Described
The seller kindly emailed me after she sent the book off to me. She wanted to make sure it arrived in good time, and asked me to email when it arrived so she could monitor the actual days required to mail it. That showed a conscientious spirit, which is reassuring when buying blind from an unknown buyer.

best of it's kind
This is the best guide to managing money and debt I've read. A few days after reading the book, I have a whole new grasp of how to get out of debt and stay out. Though I am not in serious debt, the whole money management advice is enlightening. This book should be required reading for all and should be given out in high schools.

Hope
Some people have sobered up, merely by reading the Big Book. That start, and the HOPE offered in these pages, can be the beginning of a New Life, if the Alcoholic is willing to become honest, open, and willing to talk to others about his problem with alcohol. The Big Book points out that alcohol is merely the symptom of a much deeper problem, an almost undefinable and non-specific spiritual ...

Laughing All the Way to the Bank -- With MY Candy
This is one of the funniest books I've read this year. Sure, the whole "partner-who-wants-to-be-chairman" storyline of the book was a good one--but what kept me glued to the pages of ANONYMOUS LAWYER for four straight hours was the fact that I couldn't stop laughing. Two paralegals chatting incessantly? Easy solution--punch one of the them in the face. Anonymous Daughter getting fat? Easy ...

Excellent 12 Step Companion Book
Being in recovery in OA for 6 years and reading the OA and AA 12 & 12's NUMEROUS times, I was looing for something new and fresh to read. This book truly fit the bill. The author really breaks the steps down into many subcategories and delves into issues deeply. Not a substituute for the AA or OA 12 & 12 by any means, but a great "study aid" to the 12 steps.

A woman says this book is truly wonderful
Don't listen to the person who describes this book as containing abusive content--that is simply not true! There are some scenes of very mild spanking, etc., but participants are willing and eager. I think one of the reasons this erotic novel is so popular (besides the sheer number of pages describing every type of sex you can imagine!) is that our hero seems to genuinely love and respect the ...

Allow Yourself to Get Help
Most people always try to keep everything to themselves and I read about them blowing themselves away or taking others with them, just because they had to much pride to ask for help. 62 Years of Proven Effectiveness
While AA may not be the answer for everyone, it is for many thousands of alcoholics and others. 12-Step programs are popular in many places now, based on the Steps to recovery first written in this book. Alcoholics Anonymous has never been on any best seller list, but it has sold over 20 million copies. This is good reason to take seriously what the authors say in this book. I can add my ...
