No one will read this review anyway
I doubt anyone will read this review, but this book is great. Buy it if you want to know about baking high quality breads. The only thing I'd like to see in it would be more information on technique. For example, the correct way to kneed or other "assumed" skills.

Great!
My daughter and I both enjoy this series. This book just arrived and we were not disappointed. Some of the less than outstanding reviews from the "Amazon Vine Program" mention that this book seems targeted towards younger readers or that they were unfamiliar with the series. Well, yes. This is book five in a series that is spooky, but still appropriate for younger readers. Having read every book ...

Awesome spine-tingling series
Wow! This series just gets better and better! I don't even like horror, but these books strike the right tone. Delightfully creepy (boys will love it), but not too intense for children ages 10 and up. I loooove the narrative voice. The main character's simple, matter-of-fact voice balances perfectly with the story's melodramatic horror. The main character is very endearing. You'll be cheering for ...
Ranger's Apprentice: The Sorcerer of the North (Ranger's Apprentice)

, 2008
Time has passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, led the Araluens to victory against invaders, and Will is now a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy? boring, even?until the king is poisoned. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure propelled by fears of sorcery, and must determine who is trustworthy to the king and who is trying to take his ...

The primacy of personal relationships over loyalties to one's country or duty
Spring arrives at the cabin high in the Skandian mountains where Evanlyn and Will have wintered. Will has shaken his addiction to the insidious warmweed, and Evanlyn has become comfortable with her new survival skills. One day she goes out to check their traps and does not return. Will, still weakened from the brutal life of a Skandian yard slave, goes looking for her, and their adventures begin ...

2 Thumbs Way Up!!!!
I honestly did not think that it was a plagerism of Tolkien but rather a venue to read more about rangers. They fascinate me so and Tolkien gives a lot of insight into their world, but not as much personality. I find these books amazing and wonderful books for children's and adults of all ages and, as a writer, I find nothing wrong with the writing! It's writen for children and so the writing is ...

The Game Maker's Apprentice
This is a wonderful book! The instructions are easy to follow and all of the games are fun. I liked the fact that the finished games are on the CD so you could see what they are like while you are working on them.

Outstanding series for young readers and their parents!
I have been reading this series to my four children at bed time. It has captivated their attention as well as mine. We catch ourselves reading up to seven chapters some evenings. John Flannagan does a superior job holding our attention, plunging us into the story to the point that we don't want to put the book down. This is the second book in the series. It is well written. It puts my ...

A journey of self discovery
The Midwife's Apprentice is a historical fiction set in a small English village early in the 14th century. The setting allows the reader to compare the values and ways of the culture in which we live to the ways of the past. The exact time the story takes place isn't really divulged by the author. The setting is shown not necessarily by a date, but more by the speech, dress, and behavior of ...

The Spooks past revealed
If you've read the first two books in this series, you already know the basics. Tom is the apprentice of The Spook, whose job it is to fight dark creatures. The Spook becomes Tom's mentor through his apprenticeship but Tom realizes The Spook is a very mysterious character, rarely speaking about his past. However it is here where much of the spook's mysteries are revealed. Tom learns that the ...

Great read for kids of all ages
Like Harry Potter, Ranger's Apprentice is written with kids in mind but is enjoyable by all ages. Kids will find themselves drawn into the story while parents will enjoy knowing their children are learning the values of honesty, friendship, and accountability - or are re-enforcing those attributes. The first story begins with a young 15 year old boy (Will) who is an orphan. He dreams of going ...

Interesting entry into the Holmes legend
This book is about a genius teenage girl, recently orphaned, who meets Sherlock Holmes as he's studying bees. Well, she actually almost walks over him. So begins a rather clever story. Mary and Holmes think alike, which means that the amazing Sherlock Holmes finally has a friend with whom he can share his adventures and care about, as opposed to look down upon. The story is narrated by Mary ...

Series is not for the faint of heart
A well-written, albeit gruesome, horror series, for kids who think it's great fun to be scared witless. The fourth and latest book (as of August 2008) is the darkest so far. There are a few too many creatures that want to suck human blood for my taste, but that quibble aside, all entries in the series so far are page-turners.

Why and how...but not all of it.
A great book. Not an encyclopedia. You learn a bit of why, but not all of it. You learn a bit of how, but not all of it. Then you go off and DO it yourself. Great writing style, good illustrations, very readable. Well worth the price if you're interested in sailing.

My 10 year old's review
In Ranger's Apprentice 7, Erak is making a last raid when he is caught and is held for ransom. Will, Halt, Horace, Cassandra, and Gilan must find him and rescue him. There is a fair amount action in this book. This book is only available in the Australian version. Chronologically, this book comes before the 5th and 6th but after the 1-4. He does a good job of putting pressure on characters. ...

From J. Kaye's Book Blog
CURSE OF THE BANE is the second book in Joseph Delaney's The Last Apprentice series. The first book was REVENGE OF THE WITCH. I can't stress this enough, this is the best series to come along. I am trying to think of something to compare it to, but this is in a class all by itself. That it's in my favorite genre, fantasy, which helps. But it's more than just that. Both my sister and I are fans. ...
