An engaging and well organized new text for general chemistry
This is a new textbook for general chemistry. Yes, there a quite a number of general chemistry texts and they all cover roughly the same general material. They differ more in how they organize the material, illustrate it, and their method of helping the student develop a solid understanding and command of this basic material. The student not only needs to learn the basic facts of chemistry, ...

Very useful
I needed to order this book for a class. It is well written and easy to read. As a reading teacher I can say that I will keep this book as a reference long after the class has ended. This edition comes with a CD (or DVD) which I have not previewed yet, but the instructor of my class raves about it.

Sociology review
I would like everyone to know that for a class that calls for the latest edition, which is usually hundreds of dollars, they can easily get an A with an older edition. I have proved it with this book. Even though the teacher said I would have a hard time I found everything where it was supposed to be maybe a page or two off but it was all there. This is a great book even if you are not taking a ...

Perfect for my stubborn 4yr old son
I bought this book for my stubborn 4yr old son after spending 6 months working on the alphabet which he was basically too stubborn to learn. I bought this book, read the extensive first few pages about how to use it and then started immediately. It starts a little slow the first 15 lessons, but my son, though resistent at first, quickly caught on. The day he read his first word I was so proud ...

One of the Best
"Computer Networking" by Kurose and Ross is an excellent introduction to the topic of computer networking as it relates to the largest and arguably most important network of them all: the internet. As stated in the title, the authors take a top-down approach that, in my opinion, is very well suited to CS or SE majors who are typically already familiar with aspects of the application and ...

Interesting and Lively
Admittedly I haven't read a lot of sociology textbooks, but this one is quite good. Every chapter has real-life examples (and many of the author's own experiences), so it not only makes you know the theory but also feel it at work in our societies, although the author writes quite a lot of his own feelings (it's dead obvious that he wants to change the world), which I don't know if it's a good ...

The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure: A Holistic Approach to Total Recovery

alcoholism treatment
I like the fact that it gives a more flexable approach to recovery than the very rigid (although , successful ) suggestions put forth by AA and NA. It looks to the underlying causes of the repatative destructive behaviors associated with alcoholism (in my Case). One more tool to help those still suffering that have a bias towards AA and other 12 step recovery groups. Jim Bowen
