Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology: Techniques and Interpretations (Solution (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins))1 review
Mark E Josephson

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

Not-such-a-great classic
Josephson is regarded as one of the semi-classic EP textbooks, but on the evidence of this edition, this may not be justified. The text is verbose, turgid and hard to read, and the numerous electrograms are poorly reproduced, making them hard to read and interpret. In retrospect, I'm not sure that this book was worth purchasing. The publishers need to clean up the text and improve the quality of ...

Electrophysiologic Testing Fourth Edition9 reviews
Richard N., MD Forgoros

Wiley-Blackwell, 2006

Handbook of Cardiac EP by Murgatroyd
By far the best EP book written in my opionion. If you're a layperson to EP and trying to get a handle on what the EP is doing and how we all fit into the puzzle, this is the book for you. Great illustrations, tracings, and easy explanations adjacent to the pictures for better learning.

ECGs Made Easy - Book and Pocket Reference Package5 reviews
Barbara Aehlert

Mosby/JEMS, 2005

Easily Understood
I was issued these books as part of my paramedic program. I haven't looked at any other books of this type, but I will say that the way the author lays out the different rythms and covers them in such a way, that it makes it easy for the beginner student to understand. The pocket reference is great and is small enough to carry with you for fast reference. Highly recommended. The helpful ...

Pocket Reference for ECGs Made Easy (ECG's Made Easy)1 review
Barbara Aehlert

Mosby/JEMS, 2005

Well written
This is perhaps the best pocket-sized book one will find on the market. It has great illustrations and covers all areas of cardiology and common ECG strips. However, my instructor said he had mixed opinions about this book relating to how accurate some of the ECG strips are?

Arrhythmia Recognition: The Art of Interpretation1 review
Tomas B. Garcia

Jones and Bartlett Publishers, Inc., 2004

Look no further to master arrhythmia recognition
Arrhythmia recognition is the toughest part of EKG interpretation. Most books that teach it do so by illustrating each arrhythmia with a strip or two, usually using ideal examples. This approach leaves the reader ill prepared to recognize the variations that crop up in practice. The philosophy of this book is "you can't really know an arrhythmia unless you see it over and over". This book ...

Basic Arrhythmias (6th Edition)11 reviews
Gail Walraven

Prentice Hall, 2005

Exellent book for beginners to intermediates
I've been an ER nurse x 15 years, and I've bought several EKG books, and this is far the best. It begins with the simple basics, and gives lots of practice. I would highly recommend for anyone teaching ACLS. The software I would give only 4 stars, but it is still one of the better softwares I've seen. Make sure you have a set of calipers to use with this book.

Sensible ECG Analysis1 review
Kathryn M. Lewis, Kathleen Handal

Delmar Cengage Learning, 1999

Sloppy and full of errors
Hopefully a second edition is on the way, with the numerous mistakes corrected. Until then, I would stay away from this text. Besides outright errors, there are many places where the author is just not clear or contradicts herself, examples do not always agree with the text or are ambiguous, and captions are sometimes just plain wrong. I would venture to guess that this book was put together very ...

The Nuts and Bolts of ICD Therapy (Nuts and Bolts Series)
Tom Kenny

Wiley-Blackwell, 2005

The number of ICD patients is increasing sharply, yet the number of electrophysiologists—physicians who specialize in the electrical system of the heart—is not increasing as dramatically. The result of this influx is that more and more ICD patients are being treated by physicians and staff with little or no ICD training. There are many fine books on device-based therapy for the heart, but most are written for the experts. Whether ...

Basic Dysrhythmias: Interpretation & Management1 review
Robert J. Huszar MD

Mosby, 2001

This text is invaluable
I'm currently using this book as a supplemental text for my paramedic training. We've just finished cardiology, and I couldn't have done it without this text. I already owned Phalen, Dubin, and Huff; all are good, but the Huszar text is now the one I go to first when I have a question about ECG's. There are a multitude of practical illustrations, tables, and review questions. Best of all is ...

Cardiac Electrophysiology: From Cell to Bedside4 reviews
Douglas Zipes, Jose Jalife

Saunders, 2004

Very easy read
From Ion channels in the molecular Genetics of the arrhythmia to the moment you push a patients face in a bucket of ice to convert them, good stuff. So little is still known about AvNode Rentrant tachycardia, Atrial flutter, classic WPW, etc. that it's highly refreshing to see a text like this. We know about Long QT syndrome and the specific genes responsible for this, mostly, and now the ones ...
