Asimov's Chronology of the World21 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Collins, 1991

Excellent Thumbnail Sketch of History
This was the 4th copy of the book that I have bought. I gave the other three away as gifts. An excellent read, and can be put down and picked up again without losing anything. I finally learned why the Armenians hate the Turks, the genesis of the Spanish Civil War, how long Rome was a republic, and so much more that I was curious about but never took the time to research. It filled in many of ...

Amazing Asimov read !!!!!!
I can't say enough about this book, weather you like SF or not this book is a MUST READ!!! It's more about people/civilizations/political systems than SF but either way I highly recommend it. As for SF it is simply the best SF book ever written!!!!

The Robots of Dawn61 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 1994

Asimov's Robots of Dawn
Asimov's "Robots of Dawn" is a fascinating science fiction mystery. It is also a headline breaking analysis of "Robot ethics" in a secular world. After reading the novel several times, the audio book version brought new life and meaning to the story details.

Second Foundation (Foundation Novels)65 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 2008

Fun Fun Fun
Great book! Third in the series of three novels, all three are worth the read. I read all three in about two and half weeks. It might be interesting to read them in conjunction with Kuhn's Structures of Scientific Revolutions. Every "Seldon Crisis" brings about a "new world". Really fun stuff. Don't miss out!

Asimov's Guide to the Bible: A Historical Look at the Old and New Testaments56 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Gramercy, 1988

Must have hot Biblical Historicity students
This book can be only described with one word. AMAZING! The insight and knowledge of the late Isaac Asimov is shown here with such an amazing simplicity. He can explain the mystery of life in laymen's terms with extreme ease. This book, while vast and detailed, is a must have for all the people that have that itch to understand all the mysteries of the bible and only find books that only ...

Forward the Foundation53 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Bantam Books, 1997

Best outside of the original trilogy
I am a huge Asimov fan, but I have always been dissapointed by his later fiction, which never seems to have the life and tight plotting that his earlier stuff does. That is, untll AI read Forward the Foundation. Returning to the style of the original books, Forward the Foundation is a series of short stories, each separated by ten years, rather than a single narrative. And much like in the ...

Foundation and Earth86 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 2004

Space Odyssey!
This book, while a stand-alone adventure, also effectively links the Foundation story line with the Robot/Spacer novels. It reintroduces us to the intuitive Golan Trevize, bookish Janov Pelorat and the Gaian avatar Bliss. Trevize had been at a crossroad in the previous novel "Foundation's Edge" and chose one path for the human race to follow. Not fully convinced of the intuitive leap he had ...

Isaac Asimov: The Complete Stories, Vol. 115 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Broadway, 1990

Heck yeah!
This is a GREAT collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov, one of the best science-fiction short-story writer ever. It contains over forty of his best works, including Nightfall and the Ugly Little Boy. The book itself is pretty big, with nice-sized font. Overall, a nice, sturdy copy of awesome short-stories. A must for an Isaac Asimov fan.

The End of Eternity2 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Fawcett Publications, Inc., 1971

Great time travel book!
I read this a long time ago and re-read it recently. It is a great book about a government organization that goes around in time "fixing" the mistakes of history, only to cause other problems. Asimov is great, weaving sci fi, politics, and bureaucracy into one great tale!

Caves of Steel (Robot City)81 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 1991

The Laws of Robotics ... this is where it all started!
A thousand years ago, mankind began the process of leaving mother Earth and colonizing the galaxy. Fifty planets have been now been colonized by thinly spread populations of hardy pioneering spirits - rough and ready types willing to work in hostile environments with robots as help-mates and partners - and it is obvious that mankind has evolved down two diverging sociological paths. The Earthmen ...

Prelude to Foundation (Foundation Novels)115 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 1989

Asimov's greatest
This book was written 25 years after the others in the series, and Asimov's writing skills had obviously matured and improved. He was a master writer in his 20's but he continued to get better. The characters in this work are more believable, and in this book he incorporated a very interesting surprise at the end. Asimov earned all the tributes reviewers have given him through the years.

I, Robot (The Robot)213 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 2008

The man on the Hill
1. How many robots in the world have create a crime? None. Robots are governed by three laws that maintain a high level of safety and reliability. No psycho evil profiles that can violate the three laws. A robot can not hurt a human being through action or inaction; a robot must obey humans except when it conflicts with the first law; and can not allow self harm unless, it conflicts with the ...

The Naked Sun57 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 1991

Asimov takes a murder mystery WAY beyond merely clever!
A thousand years earlier, mankind had split into two groups who now hated one another with a visceral prejudice born out of fear and a complete lack of cultural understanding of one another. Spacers, those who had seen their destiny in the stars, left earth with the assistance of positronic robot technology and colonized fifty worlds scattered throughout the galaxy. One world in particular, ...

Isaac Asimov's Treasury of Humor8 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Mariner Books, 1991

Funny Stuff
I have an older edition of this book...it is priceless. I enjoy it whenever I need a break - keep it at work. We all need humor, and Asimov had the kind of quirky sense of humor that enriches our lives....get this book.

Foundation's Edge (Foundation Novels)69 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Spectra, 1991

Shocking, Fascinating, and Intense....Read it
After finishing the initial Foundation trilogy about a year ago, I took a break. (I am a collector and had bought every book in the Foundation series all at once) I was completely satisfied with the way the trilogy concluded. I did not feel the story could move forward with any continuity. I was wrong, and the series was enhanced. The new characters introduced in the book are fantastic, and ...

Isaac Asimov's Book of Facts14 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Gramercy, 1991

Completely crazy book. Hours of fun.
This book has some of the most bizarre things that I've ever read. Including the story of some medieval ruler who had the eyes of every captured enemy soldier destroyed with hot pokers. One out of 100 soldiers were spared one eye, in order to lead the blind back home. Some of this ... I don't think is true, but all the same this is a very fun book. Great bathroom material.

Pebble in the Sky32 reviews
Isaac Asimov

Tor Books, 2008

One of the best science-fiction stories I have ever read!
Joseph Schwartz is on his way home, when he inexplicably finds himself whirled to another world. It's inhabited by humans, but they wear such strange clothes, and live in strange houses, and talk a language that he has never heard before. It seems that Schwartz has been transported far into the future, a future Earth where much of the planet is uninhabitable due to radiation, and where the ...

Asimov Expands on his Award-Winning Short Story
Originally written by renowned science fiction author Isaac Asimov as a short story in 1941, "Nightfall" describes the planet Kalgash and the impending darkness which is about to overcome the planet. As the novel begins, a local amusement park ride called "The Tunnel of Mystery" has been linked to several cases of insanity and even death. The ride, which lasts for 15 minutes, plunges the ...
