Elizabeth Street80 reviews
Laurie Fabiano

AmazonEncore, 2010

Great Read
Being of Italian heritage, and my grandparents coming over from Sicily, I found this book compelling. I couldn't put it down, and was disappointed to have it end. I only hope a sequel will be written.

Professional Android 2 Application Development (Wrox Programmer to Programmer)18 reviews
Reto Meier

Wrox, 2010

Best Android Book I have come acrossed
I recently started reading this book and couldn't be happier. The way the author explains the Android feature set and functionality is sublime. Don't let the word "Professional" scare any of you beginners out there because this book starts explaining everything from step A. I have attempted to read other android books out there (Beginning Android 2 by Mark Murphy) and this one blows that book out ...

A Return to Love169 reviews

HarperCollins e-books, 2007

Thought provoking ideas-highly reflective
It has been about 20 years since I went through A Course in Miracles. A Return to Love is a great book with which to re-engage the higher mind and the heart in the world of miracles in which we live. What I really like about Marianne's style of writting is that she reveals her flaws and struggles openly while still pointing to a higher road. It is refreshing and inspiring to see someone, who's ...

The Overton Window259 reviews
Glenn Beck

Simon & Schuster Audio, 2010

A Window of Opportunity
Glenn Beck is best known for his nightly commentary on Fox News which has both great friends and foes- generally toward the far ends of the political spectrum. Yet with his new novel- "The Overton Window", Beck is doing something a bit different. He's conjuring up a future for the United States which is eerily similar to the present- but with strange political interconnections, twists and turns ...

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo1386 reviews
Stieg Larsson

Random House Audio, 2009

Great story with female protagonist!!
I thoroughly enjoyed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. This is the first in a trilogy involving genius computer-hacker and outcast, Lisbeth Salander and journalist-publisher, Mikael Blomkvist. It's an unusual, but very well-written, crime mystery. Except for an occasional break, I read the book cover to cover in one sitting, because I could not put it down. Lisbeth was quirky but I loved her ...

The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher44 reviews
Harry K. Wong, Rosemary T. Wong

Harry K. Wong Publications, 2009

Best Teaching Book out there
Those who want to be effective teachers and teach to their fullest potential will buy this book. If you're a teacher, why would you want to be anything less than that?

Sizzling Sixteen (Stephanie Plum Novels)220 reviews
Janet Evanovich

Macmillan Audio, 2010

A solid Plum novel
This Stephanie Plum Novel I absolutely loved. Some of her recent Plums I found lacking but not this one. I have always wanted to see more of Vinnie and they never showed that much of Connie either. This Plum was exactly what I wanted it to be and the only thing that I felt disappointed at was that the end there was no excerpt from the next Plum novel. Unfortunately Ranger fans are still left ...

The Colorado Kid211 reviews

S&S Audio, 2005

The Colorado Kid
This charming short story by Stephen King is slowly revealed by two old and seasoned reporters to their young, new partner. No set answers to the crime are provided, but the story-telling is at its finest. Loved it!

The Lion97 reviews
Nelson DeMille

Hachette Audio, 2010

The Lion Book Review
The Lion is classic DeMille. It was fast paced and John Corey still has his very witty although sometimes sick sense of humor. It was very violent but enjoyable none the less.

Women Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything239 reviews
Geneen Roth

Simon & Schuster Audio, 2010

Everything is 'spelled out' for me...
The author penetrated my mind. I am amazed at the valuable insights - its as though someone understands exactly what I must have been feeling all these years. I use this book to help me center my whole self - body, mind and spirit. This book has opened me up to considering many other helpful ways to balance.

Mindfulness for Beginners25 reviews
Jon Kabat-Zinn

Sounds True, Incorporated, 2006

If you have tried meditation and have failed at it, try this
If you have tried to meditate only to discover that it's extremely difficult, this CD can get you going on the right path. If you are an experienced meditator, you may find this CD unnecessary. The package includes two CDs. In the first CD, the author starts by explaining what mindfulness is: "paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, as if you life depended on it, ...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows3512 reviews
J.K. Rowling

Listening Library (Audio), 2007

The End to one of the BEST Series EVER
Everything comes full circle in the last book of the Harry Potter Series. Unfortunately. This series is one of the best I have ever come across. Not only has it held my attention from the very first book, but it has held the attention of all ages. You finally see how Harry, Ron, & Hermione have matured. [This series is even better than Twilight] While Harry Potter journeys to discover find the ...

Junie B. Jones's First Boxed Set Ever! (Books 1-4)210 reviews
Barbara Park

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

Dear one-star reviewers: Congratulations on missing the point!
Um. People? Here's the thing about Junie B. Jones: She's supposed to be a little kid. She's not a generic little Anykid, no. She probably doesn't talk exactly the same way that your particular six-year-old does, just the same way that your six-year-old doesn't talk the same way as every other kid in their class. She's also a funny, headstrong, hyperactive little kid who's impulsive and ...

The Girl Who Played with Fire723 reviews
Stieg Larsson

Random House Audio, 2009

Fast-paced thriller!
I loved the first book in this trilogy, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and couldn't wait to read The Girl Who Played With Fire. This story delivered and then some. I won't go into the plot which has been outlined very thoroughly by others, but I will say that I'm not easily impressed and this novel rocked. Stieg Larsson was a very talented writer and gone much too soon.

The Back of the Napkin (Expanded Edition): Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures11 reviews
Dan Roam

Portfolio Hardcover, 2009

Original and Useful Book
I've got this book as a gift from a student. After a long wait, I decided to read it during a trip across the country. The main messages are simple, objective and well presented. After reading the book you will learn nice hints on how to better organize and communicate complex ideas using a pictorial approach. I confess that this book impacted the way I prepare my presentations.

The Skinnygirl Rules: For Getting and Staying Naturally Thin8 reviews
Bethenny Frankel

Simon & Schuster Audio, 2009

tons of solid info that "sticks"
As a weight loss coach who has enjoyed both of the author's books, I got a couple of these to give away in a drawing I do for my weight loss class participants. Of all the things I have given out (workout DVDs, cookbooks, healthy snacks, etc.) during the many drawings I have done, this got some of the best praise. Let's face it, many of us have little time to read and sometimes we get so ...
