Wordbook of Australian Idiom - Aussie Slang: No Worries! She's Apples!1 review
Kerrin.P. Rowe

Trafford Publishing, 2006

well done and easy to reference
This book is very straight forward and alphabetically listed in translation style with sentence examples. A nice little refence guide. My only critisism is that it could probably have been a bit more comprehensive, but it is definitely a good starting point for anyone new to Aussie expressions.

The Australian Shepherd: Champion of Versatility7 reviews
Liz Palika

Howell Book House, 2003

Excellent for the economic value
This book has it all, and more importantly, it was written by someone who HAS Australian shepherds (most books out there are not written by those whom actually live with them). A nice overview of the breed and the possibilities it holds. Great work.

All About Aussies: The Australian Shepherd From A To Z30 reviews
Jeanne Joy Hartnagle-Taylor

Alpine Pubns, 2005

Best Aussie Book I've Read
This is the most complete book on Australian Shepherds I have ever read. Anyone thinking about getting an Aussie needs to read this book and keep it for reference before purchasing the animal. Anyone already owning an Aussie should read it to learn more about the breed and how to care for their dog. I bought two other Aussie books in the same order. Big mistake. This one was all I needed.

D. Caroline Coile Ph.D.

Barron's Educational Series, 2009

Very useful book!
I've bought several Aussie books and this one is definately the quickest and most efficient read. For the price, I'd say its the best one available. It's written so everyone can understand and easily find what they're looking for

The Original Australians: Story of the Aboriginal People3 reviews
Josephine Flood

Allen & Unwin Academic, 2007

All You Ever Wanted to Know ... And More!
I bought this book to learn more about the primal religious practices of the Aboriginal people. I got more than I bargained for. What I found was a comprehensive study of "The Original Australians," from their migration to the continent 40,000-50,000 years ago, to the present. Flood's work is thorough, analytical, well-researched and unbiased. She obviously loves the indigenous people of ...

Australian Language & Culture (Language Reference)7 reviews
Paul Smitz, Barry Blake

Lonely Planet, 2007

Phrasebook for Australia
Lonely Planet's "Australian Phrasebook" is a great introduction to the Australian way of life and speaking for foreigners. Whether you are a tourist going on a trip to the land of Aussies, or a person studying English as used in Australia, this can be a good guide and reading supplement. Traditionally to Lonely Planet phrasebooks, this one gives you a short and easy-read introduction to the ...

Americans' Survival Guide to Australia and Australian-American Dictionary10 reviews
Rusty Geller

Virtualbookworm.com Publishing, 2007

Must Have Guide for Expats
We are moving to Australia from the U.S. and bought this book to help prepare. It's full of useful information- like how to use the phone, when to go shopping, etc. The dictionary is great! Even though they speak English there are ALOT of different words. This is a great book and I would highly recommend it to US expats planning to live in Australia.

Seven Little Australians1 review
Ethel Turner

Akasha Classics, 2008

Old but good
My copy of this book belonged first to my grandmother (born in 1888 I think), and then my mother and aunt. I loved it as a child (in the sixties), and love it still - although it has a VERY sad ending that still makes me cry. Reading the extract from Chapters 1 and 2 will give you a good idea of the writing quality, so I'll say little of that. As a child I though it was a child's book, but ...

The Essential Australian Shepherd (Essential (Howell))7 reviews
Howell Book House

Howell Book House, 1999

Straight and to the point
This is a quick book to read, but although small has a lot of information packed into. Throught the streamlining of the book, the author and editors managed to also make it readable in a format that flows quickly. Great for potential owners of Aussies that do not have a lot of time to sit and read a longer or less readable book.

The Explorers: Stories of Discovery and Adventure from the Australian Frontier7 reviews

Grove Press, 2000

Great Book to Start Reading About Australian Explorers
This is an anthology of excerpts from Australian Explorers journals ranging from early sixteenth century European Explorers to Australians in the early 20th century. Flannery's introduction for each provides an excellent, concise biography and set up to each explorer's excerpt. In many of the excerpts, an explorer faces death and disaster. The most intriguing initially was Charles Sturt writing ...

Included are a substantial introductory essay, short author biographies, a map of Australia, a glossary of Australian terms, and a list of suggested readings.
