Twins! 2e: Pregnancy, Birth and the First Year of Life46 reviews
Connie Agnew, Alan Klein, ...

Collins Living, 2006

Great book if you are having twins
This is a great book if you are having twins. I read it cover to cover & then certain sections a second time. I really love the "Roundtable Talk" where parents of twins discuss a topic. There's nothing like hearing helpful hints & advice from people who have actually have twins. I also found the resource guide in the back of the book very helpful.

Little Big Men: Bodybuilding Subculture and Gender Construction (Suny Series on Sport, Culture, and Social ...5 reviews
Alan M. Klein

State University of New York Press, 1993

Readable format, intriguing study.
Insightful examination of an extreme manifestation of societal tendency, and how this reflects on gender construction in our society as a whole. I purchased this book for use as one of the (many!) references for my thesis (on gender role traits and food selection.) While probably not for a lay audience, this book is written in a very easy-to-read style for a study. Although I have to do hours ...

Growing the Game: The Globalization of Major League Baseball5 reviews
Alan M. Klein

Yale University Press, 2008

a big winner
This book by Alan Klein, the leading authority on the social science of baseball, may be his best (he is also the author of Sugarball, and Baseball on the Border). In Growing the Game he unravels MLB's efforts to expand baseball outside the U.S. Lucid and engaging. Perfect for my Sport, Culture and Society course.
