nursing drug guide: Don't leave home without it
It is nice for the price. It took a little longer than I expected to get to me, but drug guides are all very similar. It is written simply and it is easy to use and understandd and all the NEW meds I have had to look up are there. I never go to work without it..I still love the written page as opposed to [...] or online searches. Grace

Great Pharmacology Resource for Nurses
This is truly an excellent pharmacology resource for nurses. I believe this book surpasses the Nursing Drug Handbook published by Springhouse (which is also an excellent resource). What sets this guide apart from others is the comprehensiveness of the material. I found indications and side effects listed that I was unable to find in other drug guides, thus making this guide indispensible to ...

I love the way the drugs are categorized !!!
The reason why I bought this book was because it was organized by the medications purposes, so all the cardiovascular medications were put together, CNS drugs, etc. ... Then within these categories subcategories (i.e. antihypertensive drugs, anticovulsant drugs, etc.) were grouped. Also, the generic names are in bright red and the brand names listed directly underneath in black. It just makes it ...

great tool for nurses
I have used this manual before and it has improved with this edition. I highly recommend for anyone who needs ready access to medication information. Written in a down to earth manner but is still effective for professionals. Is organized well, so questions are easily answered.

obstetrics drugs
I am a nursing student pursuing a carrer in maternity. During my rotation on labor and delivery, one of my assignments (which was given to me by my instructor) was to complete a list of OB drugs used. The book I sought for help is "Lippincott's Nursing Drug Guide". It's user friendly, listing from generic and trade name drugs to nursing process guidelines related to drug administration. This ...

Great Nursing School Companion
I needed a good drug book for nursing school and start of clinicals. I noticed this book is also standard issue on all the floors I have visited in my hospital. I like it because the indications (reason the drug would be used) are very clear and easy to locate as well as dosing information. This helps a ton when preparing for clinicals. For example, a pt has HTN and has a MAR with 20 drugs on ...

Great compatibility lists!
I leave my copy in our CCU. It's the best resource we have for IV med compatibilities -- boasting nice long lists for most of our commonly used drips. Solid dosing information, some tables, etc. My favorite for IV meds (ePocrates & Infusicalc/Palm user too).

A Nursing Student's Opinion
After reviewing many Drug Guides and Reference Books I purchased the Lippincott. I have found it to be an invaluable support tool and source of information. The format is very organized, straight-forward and thorough. It is the one drug guide that contains all information needed for pharmacology, everyone else in class that purchased "other" drug guides have borrowed my Lippincott to find ...

Very good but not complete
You're only as good as your current information. While the Lippincott's Nursing Drug Guide 2004 has lots of useful information and is a compact, informative source for most drugs, it's missing many new drugs approved and on the market as of 2002. For example, Pimecrolimus (tradename Elidel) which is widely used by derms, peds and family practice doctors is nowhere to be found in the book either ...
