SASKIA

DiskUs Publishing, 2007

When he was a boy, Ben had an experience on which, years later, he still reflects. One summer Ben's father took on a hired hand,  who had a daughter who pitched in to help, mostly around the house.  The girl was in her early teens. Her name was Saskia. She had blonde hair, a nice smile, a great laugh, and Ben thought she was pretty. She was also easy to talk to. Ben spent a special summer with Saskia, and was dazzled by her mysterious talents.  ...

Keep on, keeping on1 review
Nellie Snyder Yost, Betty Ann Herrick

Word Services, 1983

Keep On Keeping On
Book is the life story of a woman born and raised in Colorado in a small mining town. Not very interesting at all. I do not recommend this book unless you are personally acquainted with the author and have a personal reason for wanting it. It's fairly boring, in my opinion.

Beneath The Surface

DiskUs Publishing, 2007

At first Lariena is glad she has to spend the summer with her foot in a cast. It means she has a built-in excuse to stay out of the water at the beach. Eventually Adrian teaches Lariena to face her fears and not be afraid of what's Beneath The Surface, even when ...

Great summer reading!
This is a really good book about a girl pretending to have a summer romance with a boy she'd really like to have a year-round romance with. I read it straight through in one afternoon.

Star of the Show1 review
Ann Herrick

Amazon, 2006

a story for young women that extends to all ages
Ann Herrick's "Star of the Show" is a fun read that supports the idea of a young woman's multiple talents and her honesty with herself and others. It has some surprises and a heart-warming, romantic end. All women, but especially teen readers, will identify with the main character. This could serve as a hi/low story, with vocabulary at around the sixth to eighth grade levels. Ms. Herrick knows ...
