cuts to chase
There are a lot of books on this topic, and certainly others may present information on certain topics in more detail. Still, I think it consistently cuts to the heart of the matter in that it presents the information you need to understand the topic. I was able to pick up stuff quickly with this book. Plus, it is ...cheaper than most books so it is a good value.

Very informative book
Man I thought I was secure online before. This book has proved me wrong and showed me how to become secure. If you think installing "Zone Alarm" is enough to be safe online, you are wrong. It is well written and reads within a weekend. Well worth the time and money.

The Best JavaScript Guide Ever Written For Beginners.
The title of the book states that the reader can learn JavaScript in a week. Although this may be true, two weeks is better suited for the amount of reading required to learn the contents of the book. Nonetheless, the book is extremely well written and easy to understand. The author's directions are concise, complete, and directed toward the reader of non-technical manuals. This particular ...

Ready to Raise Your Skill Level?
Having been a full time ColdFusion Developer for nearly five years, I've had my fill of books that only offer the most shallow introductions to topics covered. This book is not one of those books - it's outstanding! There are thirteen coauthors and their combined efforts have produced an excellent resource any experienced developer should appreciate. Ramond Camden wrote the book's introduction, ...

Very good effort.
I relied on Mastering ColdFusion 4.5 to learn what I needed to know about CF. The new edition covers the new features in depth and has good examples throughout.

Great Beginners Book
This book is fantastic for the individual who wants to learn HTML quickly. Although it does not delve into the advanced topics too far, it is a good starting point. Lemay's style is straight forward and will have you writing web pages in no time. With this book and CGI 101/102 you could be designing and programming for the web in a basic capacity in a week, but by no means stop there!

Standard Fair, nothing special if you've used CF before
This book is ok, especialy if you are a newbie to CF programming. My problem with this book is that it reads alot like the CF 4.0-5.0 books that I've seen. The vast majority of the chapters are the same as the books befor this one, which is fine if you haven't used CF before. If you have, save your money, and get the CF MX Developer Cookbook, or The CFMX Bible, which will give you more "how ...

Great Start for Linux beginners
This book was used as a part of my class instruction for Linux certification. It is very easy to read and covers topics in a manner that the beginning student can grasp. It is also a thorough treatment of the topics involved for an LCA certification. It has questions at the end of each chapter and a CDrom (that unfortunately runs on Windows only) with sample exams to test your knowledge of the ...

Dynamic Html Unleashed is a once of great DHTML books. But this is clearly not a introduction book. You should have a good HTML and javascript knowladge .

Unlike the others, I found it useful.
While I think the book spends to much time talking about X-Windows, I found it very useful as a reference guide. Particularily the section with regards to configuring the Apache web server. If you are new to Linux and need a step by step, this probably isn't the book for you, but if you want a reference guide for command lines and configurations, I would give it a look.

Awsome Eye opener into the wonder that is Linux!
This is one of the few great books on linux I have ever seen. The auther does not just breeze over your head assuming you know certain things like most authors do, nor does he speak below you. Many books about linux just tell you to type commands, or do this or do that but dont tell you why you are doing it and principals behind it. This guy is a great teacher, and buy the time you are done ...

Nice intro for beginners
The book focuses on the transition from a Windows-family OS to Linux and Unix in general. It is well organized and clear, though sometimes wordy. "Mastering Red Hat Linux" is primarily oriented at beginners, but also covers some more advanced topics like installation and configuration of mail and web servers.

Outstanding
I hadn't bothered to check out Mastering CF until just recently. I had doubts about whether it'd be worth it to bother. Well, what a mistake! I finally bought this book and have been reading it over the past week. I've been through Forta's books and all of Allaire's classes (Fastrack to CF, Advanced CF, and CF Performance Tuning), but was still confused in some areas. Mastering CF has done an ...

Good book despite errors
Yes, there are errors in this book and I agree that there should have been much better editing but nonwithstanding, it's a good book. It fills the gap well between a tutorial and a reference manual. In fact, fixing the errors reinforces the learning, otherwise you are getting less benefit by simply typing in the example code. The text gives you enough knowledge to fix the code. The downloadable ...
