The Digital Photography Book, Volume 3 59 reviews Scott Kelby
Peachpit Press, 2009
Book three for Scott Kelby I purchased Scotts first book and I really like it and then got two and now three and I can say that all of them are excellent. Scott has a way of explaining photography so that you get it. Just the right things to do to get great photos.
I teach beginning photography and I use his material all the time for my students as it is so well versed. This series is a keeper.

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens 225 reviews Sean Covey
Fireside, 1998
Fantastic This book is such a great book. I'm using it with a group of high school juniors and seniors as a textbook for a course. The course helps students with disabilities plan for their future.
This book has made some of my students realize that they can do anything they put their minds to and/or how to seek out help.

Dilbert: 2010 Day-to-Day Calendar 62 reviews Scott Adams
Andrews McMeel Publishing, 2009
The perfect cube for your cube If you're new to Dilbert, he's a small guy who works in a highly bureaucratic engineering firm. The comics satirize office politics beautifully.
The 2010 Day to Day calendar is a small block of 365 dated comic strips, designed to be torn off on a daily basis. Each page is printed in color - the overall color scheme is green and purple. This year a new addition to the Day to Day calendar is ...

Dragon Age: Origins Collector's Edition: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) 13 reviews Mike Searle
Prima Games, 2009
Great strategy guide, though not perfect This is probably the best strategy guide I've seen. After reading some of the other reviews, I think that has to do with what *I* look for in a guide for an RPG. I don't really use the walk-throughs that much - primarily I like discussion about character and party development. I think that's the discrepancy between my review and the others. So - here are the pros and cons:
PROS:

Rocket Boys (The Coalwood Series #1) 548 reviews Homer H. Hickam
Dell Publishing Company, 1900
Terrific Book......Part Of A Tradition I decided to pick up Rocket Boys after seeing "October Sky" with my son. October Sky, (OS) is one of the movies that was included as part of a tradition my son and I had started when he was a youngin', and still continuing today. October Sky is what I refer to as a "Dad" movie, or any movie that was either about, or included a sub plot that reflected a relationship between a father and his son. ...

My 9 year old nephew is in love with this book! I just gave it to him for his birthday today and I have achieved my goal which is to buy him the best possible gift and soldify my #1 Auntie Anne status! :) He is glued to this book and enjoying it immensely (to say the least) All kidding aside my only regret is that I gave him the book when I first saw him. I drive 1 1/2 hours to see him and as we went about our activites he lugged that heavy ...

Under the Dome: A Novel 135 reviews Stephen King
Scribner, 2009
My New Favorite King "Under The Dome" is fantastic, and replaces "Desperation" as my favorite King novel (which in turn replaced "The Stand"). Unlike some King fans, I've liked the recent, more literary King. After all, if an artist doesn't change, they grow stale. King has been very good at not becoming stale. That said, while there are still some literary elements in this tale, this is certainly a rip-roaring ...

You: On A Diet: The Owner's Manual for Waist Management 737 reviews Mehmet C. Oz, Michael F. Roizen
Free Press, 2006
How I learned to manage my waist I thought for years I couldn't lose weight. My blood pressure was too high, my cholesterol was high and my clothes didn't look good on me. One night we happened to see Dr. Oz on Charlie Rose talking about his book and I made up my mind to buy this book and try it. I found it on amazon.com and had it within a week. This was in 2007. While I was reading it I started doing the things suggested, ...

Under the Dome: A Novel 156 reviews Stephen King
Scribner, 2009
Long-time SK fan I have read all of SK's novels that I could possibly get my hands on and I only want to say one thing about Under the Dome. I did not feel this way after reading his other novels, but with Under the Dome I was sorry to see it end. If this novel were twice or three times longer than it is, I would still be riveted to it, knowing it would be quite a while before I finished it. I wish I were ...

Guinness World Records 2010 8 reviews Guinness World Records
Guinness World Records, 2009
Another entry in this fascinating annual series! Each year, I eagerly await the arrival of the updated "Guinness World Records." Indeed, it seems to get a bit wilder each year, as new (and sometimes wacky) records are reported. The rules as to what qualifies as a record are laid out (as they are each year). The fun begins even just by randomly leafing through pages (my favorite way of perusing these volumes).
The first page begins with ...

The Botany of Desire: A Plant's-Eye View of the World 180 reviews Michael Pollan
Random House Trade Paperbacks, 2002
Fantastic!! This is the Micahael Pollan book to read. It reads like a fairy tale, full of luscious information about ordinary things you will never see in the same light as before reading his book. The tulip part is fascinating and explains why tulips appear in so many fifteenth and sixteenth century paintings especially from Dutch and Flemish regions. I have lent the book out because it seems a shame to ...

Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control and Pregnancy Achievement 1173 reviews Toni Weschler

The second month after reading it I used all the methods it described with charting my basal body temperature, cervical fluid and position and by 3 days before my ...

Divine Misdemeanors: A Novel (Meredith Gentry, Book 8) Laurell K. Hamilton
Ballantine Books, 2009
You may know me best as Meredith Nic Essus, princess of faerie. Or perhaps as Merry Gentry, Los Angeles private eye. In the fey and mortal realms alike, my life is the stuff of royal intrigue and celebrity drama. Among my own, I have confronted horrendous enemies, endured my noble kin?s treachery and malevolence, and honored my duty to conceive a royal heir?all for the right to claim the throne. But I turned my back on court and crown, choosing ...

The Gathering Storm (Wheel of Time) 246 reviews Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson

Exceeds all expectations When Robert Jordan died in 2007, an abrupt end seemed to have come to the popular Wheel of Time series. Jordan had only been able to write a small part of the book that was going to bring all the different storylines and characters together and mold it into a beautiful finish.
Until Tor Books - along with Jordan's wife, Harriet - contacted Robert Sanderson to finish the Wheel of Time. ...
