One of my favorite books so far in 2007
THE CURE by Athol Dickson October 3, 2007 Rating: 5 Stars THE CURE is one of the few times I have given out a 5 star rating. For me, giving out 5 stars doesn't mean that everyone will enjoy the book. It is an opinion that comes from one person. However, a 5 star book has to be well-written, have characters that work in the overall scheme of things, and that all other important parts of ...

Fiction at it's best. Hitchock would have loved this one.
What can I say that could possibly give due to such a fantastic book? Athol Dickson is such an incredible author it astounds me. I've read all his novels and every one is completely different, not knowing what to expect, and finding each one above the norm. Winter Haven has been described as gothic, horror, suspense, intrigue, even creepy and yet it's so much more. Athol paints a wonderful ...

Truly amazing!
After telling a pretty good friend (and source) that I was reading this, he responded with an e-mail simply stating this... "Dickson is amazing." He was right! And, as a certain review title states, the cover and title do appear rather bland, don't they? HA! This was great. This probably won't be for everyone. For some it will be a rather sensitive subject. Then for others, it will be just ...

A book for every Christian's bookshelf
This was a great read. Highly recommended. The book reads smoothly, uses comfortable language, and flows in a logical way. Dickson employs several mini-stories throughout the book to introduce and illustrate the subject matter of that chapter. Dickson touches an area of Christianity which is desperately needed. We embrace so much of our faith without having any knowledge of its roots ...

This mystery was to good to put down.
Normally I am a non-fiction reader. I found alot of fiction, dumbed-down, or offensive. This Book has really stood out to me, as an excellent mystery. A couple of times I thought I knew who did it, but of course I didn't. It had such a surprising and intreaging ending.. I was totally involved in the story all the way through. It has a hint of a Christian theme, but not so much that you are ...

Athol Dickson on top of his game
Athol Dickson is one of the most talented writers in the CBA, and River Rising proves it. A masterfully woven tale, the story gripped me from the beginning and only tightened its hold with each turned page. Dickson knows how to tell a story and his writing is clear and succinct. No frills. I highly recommend this book.

Not for the faint of heart
But if you like to be taken for the ride of your life on the back roads of Louisiana, then this title is for you. Athol Dickson's writing is a cut above that of most inspirational mystery novelists. If his dynamic premises aren't enough, his interesting characters follow a path of twists and turns, leaving the reader with nails far shorter than when they turned to page one! This book, ...
