Best of the Best from the Mid-Atlantic Cookbook: Selected Recipes from the Favorite Cookbooks of Maryland, ...1 review

Quail Ridge Press, 2001

A tremendously good cookbook!
I live in this part of the country, and I absolutely loved this compilation of recipes. The Mid-Atlantic is a varied region, but the authors have included recipes from cookbooks that cover many of the area's specialties. As always with this series, I have yet to find a recipe that does not come out well. I have made several of the cakes and they were all superb (esp. the One-Step Poundcake). ...

Best of the Best from North Carolina Cookbook: Selected Recipes from North Carolina's Favorite Cookbooks ...3 reviews

Quail Ridge Press, 2006

It's not Charleston Receipts, but...
Although I would prefer a regional cookbook to include strictly regional recipes, the recipes are interesting and certainly concentrate on Southern food. The ingredients are easily obtained and the directions are clear. If you like to "try before you buy", all the recipes indicate which cookbook they are taken from and cover photographs and descriptions of the contributing cookbooks are ...

Best of the Best 500 Fast and Fabulous Five Star 5 Ingredient Recipes
I am currently working on my collection of the Best of the Best state cookbooks by Gwen McKee and Barbara Moseley and am only about 1/4 of the way through the states, mainly collecting those where I have so far lived, or have received as gifts during cookbook swaps. Not even being halfway through the list however finds me wishing for more states in the US besides just 50. I love the concept of a ...

The Recipe Hall of Fame Cookbook (Best of the Best)13 reviews

Quail Ridge Press, 1999

Really Great Cookbook!!!
I received this cookbook as a wedding gift, and I think it has been the one thing I have used over and over. I have yet to make a recipe from this cookbook that is "average." If you make nothing else, the Applebarn Fresh Apple Cake is worth the price of this book. I need to buy a second volume because the original is wearing out!

Well Worth The Price!
I had purchased this a few weeks ago. I work a lot of hours and I have a 2hour daily commute. I decided I was tired of blah foods and wanted to do something about it. So, I purchased some new cookbooks. This one is one that I have been using the most. I made a Chili Soup, Easy Brown Rice, Beef Stew, a Baked Rice dish. At tops my prep time was around 10 minutes. There is a lot to recommend in this ...

Great Home Style Cooking with wonderful pictures as a bonus
Being from Arkansas, naturally I was drawn to this book. I also collect cookbooks so I have learned to weed out the ones that tend to be too extravagant for my everyday meals. This cookbook has all the wonderful, Southern-style, home-made recipes I grew up enjoying. It is a compilation of the best recipes from fifty-four different cookbooks from my home state. Historic pictures and ...

Best of the Best from Iowa: Selected Recipes from Iowa's Favorite Cookbooks (Best of the Best from Iowa)6 reviews

Quail Ridge Press, 1997

Nostalgia, and good food
I am originally from Iowa, and this cookbook just warms my heart and makes me think of home. The authors don't just present recipes; they include photos and little facts about places in the state, so it's enjoyable to read for those tidbits. Some colloquialisms are in there, like the enduring usage of "oleo" for "margarine." You will find that many recipes reflect German, Dutch, and Swedish ...

Great Food - Great Book!
This was one of the very first cookbooks I ever purchased and it has been a mainstay in my kitchen ever since. The recipes are clear and concise.
