Professional Java Web Services6 reviews
Scott Cable, Ben Galbraith, ...

Peer Information Inc., 2002

Typical Wrox product.....
Wrox books tend to occupy a particular niche in the market. Wrox' strategy seems to be to be early into the marketplace with a book on a bleeding edge topic. Their 'Early Adopter' series is particularly aimed at this market, but so are many of their books. If something is wrong or superceded, Wrox will publish another book on the same topic, usually a bunch more books on the topic. Wrox also ...

Pragmatic Ajax: A Web 2.0 Primer (Pragmatic)13 reviews
Justin Gehtland, Ben Galbraith, ...

Pragmatic Bookshelf, 2006

Excellent explanation with great examples
This book is everything one can want form such a book. Before I read this book, I knew nothing about AJAX, although I read few articles on the internet, I couldn't find such nice explanations and examples. Now I use AJAX wherever I can, and I can't immagine my life without it. Buy this book and you won't be sorry.

The Three Fishing Brothers Gruff
Ben Galbraith

Hodder & Stoughton, 2007

Once upon a time, there were three fishing brothers called Gruff. They were mean and greedy and fished until there were no more fish to be fished in Poverty Bay. But watch out! Minke Whale, Guardian of the Ocean, isn't pleased, and neither are the townspeople of Poverty Bay! The brilliantly conceived text, based loosely on The Three Billy Goats Gruff , is matched by Ben Galbraith's bold, sophisticated artwork. And as you turn the pages, watch ...

Beginning JSP Web Development14 reviews
Jayson Falkner, John Timney, ...

Wrox Press, 2001

good but needs more examples
This book is a solid introduction that covers all the key basics. Be aware that over half the book is spent teaching Java, not JSP. Since I already know the basics of java, the numerous Java chapters were a distraction to the main point of JSP/Servlet programming. Also, being a beginner to JSP, I have to agree with an earlier reviewer that the book hurries on to each next chapter with only the ...

Professional Web Services Security3 reviews
Ben Galbraith, Whitney Hankison, ...

Wrox Press, 2002

At last a decent Web Services Security Book
At last I have found a decent web services security book. Professional Web Services Security by Wrox. I really like this book as it covers all the specs including WS-Security, SAML and Liberty and all the XML specs including XKMS, XACML, XML Sig, XML Encryption etc. It also has great code examples of using each which is really useful. The best content and broadest coverage I have seen so far (and ...

Professional JSP 2nd Edition23 reviews
Simon Brown, Robert Burdick, ...

Wrox Press, 2001

Good as a Novel
This book is awesome. The one thing I truly love about this book is the layout. I had zero experience in JAVA/J2EE and after the first chapter it all made sense. I Actually make time to read this book. The one thing this book does that no other I have read is tech the low level nuts and bolts along with top level syntax and make it make sense. For instance, the chapter on Servlets rocks. It ...

Professional Apache Tomcat17 reviews
Chanoch Wiggers, Ben Galbraith, ...

Wrox, 2002

Good for non-developers too
I'm not a software developer but need to know about Tomcat - detail on what it can do and how it relates to web servers and applications servers. Before picking up this book I had no direct experience of running either Tomcat or even the Apache Server. This book provides an excellent introduction to the subject as well as having a wealth of detail for the more demanding reader. Highly recommended.

Professional Apache Tomcat 5 (Programmer to Programmer)8 reviews
Vivek Chopra, Amit Bakore, ...

Wrox, 2004

this is the place to start
as a beginner to the world of Java, Servlets, and JSP, this provided the best introductory place to begin learning these technologies. More so than any of the o'reilly books, this volume takes you through the necessary introductory concepts. The examples are simple but not trivial, and present material in a way that can be readily absorbed and reused. This is not a reference book- I feel ...

Professional WebObjects with Java14 reviews
Thomas Termini, Pierce Wetter, ...

Peer Information, 2001

the best, but not great
I bought this book to teach myself WO from the gound up. It has been extremely helpful and I highly recommend it if you're attempting to do the same. That being said, the book is quite difficult to learn from. This book teaches from fairly narrow examples and leaves it up to the reader to extrapolate the general concepts.
