Comfort food and so much more!
It's easy to see why this book was a recent winner at the Julia Child IACP awards! The Jamisons have amassed a fabulous collection of the great recipes we've all loved as we were growing up, as well as new ones to enhance anyone's repertoire. The scrumptious photos tempt anyone's taste buds! Lots of informative tidbits are packed in with all the recipes. So many delicious recipes, but we ...

Great Intro to Chicken Grilling. Highly Recommended
In considering this book, you should certainly be aware that grilling and barbecue are two different methods of cooking, at least as different as braising and roasting, even though the methods share similar equipment and are typically done outdoors. That means there is very little overlap between the recipes in this book and the Jamison's important barbecue book `Smoke & Spice'. Unlike barbecue, ...

What an awesome grilling cookbook!
There are lots of pictures and ideas about how to set a table, how the food should look presented, flower arrangements, etc. There are pictures of nearly every recipe which is a great cookbook to give as a gift. This would be an awesome gift to give with a grill (i.e. wedding gift). There are recipes for appetizers, entrees and even desserts...all done on the grill. I also like the section on ...

Best of the Best
Best book on smoking that I have ever seen. At first the title sounded odd but after reading it (not just the recipes) I understood where they were coming from. Always refreshing to find an excellent cookbook that doesn't waste money and space on pictures. Smoke and Spice is the only way to cook!

Because no matter how much you like cornflakes...
...you're going to want something else once in a while. This is a really good book. It was on Food and Wine Magazine's 25 best list a couple of years ago, and it's full of all kinds of breakfast delicacies, both familiar and unusual. Breakfast (the American way at least) is an interesting meal, as it's appropriate any time of day -- the buzz created in September '06 by McDonalds' ...

Authentic, expansive and informative
For the last 15 years, I had been looking to recreate several of the wonderful Mexican dishes I ate while living in Tucson, Arizona for 6 years. It was not until I found The Border Cookbook that I was able to accomplish this task! The authors have made it very easy to cook the wonderful flavors that I have been missing all of these years. The descriptions of the history of the dishes and the ...

Armchair travel for foodies. Or maybe armchair food for travelers.
I have at least three cookbooks by the Jamisons, and all of them are best-of-breed, from the breakfast cookbook to cooking with smoke. So when I saw that they had branched out somewhat into foodie travel, I went out of a way to pick up Around the World in 80 Dinners. After all, I've bought books that cover everything from the best gelato shops in Italy to deciphering German restaurant menus. I ...

Authoritative, thorough and friendly
With 850 recipes, including 200 sauces and rubs, big and thorough are the operative words for this James Beard Award-winning team's latest (after "Good times, Good Grilling"). They begin with solid definitions of the various outdoor techniques. Grilling, for instance, is always done over direct heat, with the cover up. Does that mean you can't make beer can chicken? Sure you can, but don't ...

The true bible of grilling
We have used the recipes in this book for a grilling demonstration day at our store for years. The book contains recipes for out of the ordinary menu items you wouldn't think of cooking on the grill. The last recipe I prepared was for Tortilla and Tomato soup, it was incredible. I'll never be able to eat Campbells again without thinking of these flavors. The other nice thing about this book ...

If I'm not eating at the Rancho, this cookbook is the next best thing!
Have visited this restaurant many times while in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area. This little cookbook captures very well the essence of the restaurant and traditional northern New Mexican cuisine. No trip to Santa Fe is complete without the short drive into the beautiful countryside to enjoy a meal at the Rancho de Chimayo. I have never been disappointed when trying a recipe from the book. The ...

Just the right book.
I got this book when planning a 20th anniversary trip to the Caribbean with my husband. I hadn't been to the Caribbean before and was overwhelmed by the choices. The book helped me narrow down my choice to two wonderful hotels on Grenada, an island I had never thought of visiting. The book's descriptions are vivid and accurate.

Drac's Night Out
Jocelyn Jamison
Price Stern Sloan
, 2001
Drac is heading out for a night on the town, but he's got a secret that he'd rather not let his date know about. The fact of the matter is that he's fibbed about his age-by about 500 years! A false set of fangs packaged in the back of the book shows throughout the story and through a die-cut on the cover. But these choppers can also be removed for even more fun! It all makes for a humorous, play-along experience that will leave kids "vanting" ...
