SIMPLY THE BEST JAZZ BOOK AROUND
I'm not a musician, but I've been listening and following jazz for almost 60 years. I've read many of the books written about or by jazz musicians. There are many good ones out there but Elegant Soul is, by far, my very favorite. Okay, I met Gene Harris several times, but I've met other jazz musicians from time to time. Janie Harris did an incredible job in telling the story of her ...

When a pudu took on the gods...
I bought this book to learn more about Jeopardy!, but I ended up enjoying Trebekistan at least as much for the emotional experience as I did for the information imparted about the show. Bob Harris also has a writing style that's funny and engaging. If you enjoy suspense, trivia, humor, or if you just have a pulse, then you'll like this book.

Mushrooms Galore!
This is a great book, and at no. 137,000 this Bob Harris' book on Mushrooms seems all set to pass the other Bob Harris' book on Chomskian analysis of how dumb all those journalists are, excepting of course Mssrs. Cohen and Solomon.

My Autobiography: An Englishman Abroad
Bobby Robson; Bob Harris

Bobby Robson's road to success has been marked by his determination and love for soccer. Starting his working career as a Newcastle miner and amateur, he rose from the ranks to play for England. After his playing career was over, he made the natural progression towards management, building Ipswich up from a struggling side to championship contenders. He took England to the 1990 World Cup semis, only losing on penalties, a feat that earned him ...

Not about Detroit Rock & Roll -- very pathetic!
Because this publisher has produced some very good books on local Detroit lore, I thought I was in for some good history of Detroit popular music when I picked this book off the shelf at a store. However, when I saw the cover has a shot of the Rolling Stones, rather than someone like Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, the MC5 or any of countless other local rock acts made good, I sensed ...

Finally back in print!
Thank Boston's Thanatos Press for finally re-issuing this gem, a long-forgotten masterpiece and keystone text of the late 20th-century American Homo-Gothic movement. Originally staged in the parking lot of a Somerville grocery-store by Frankfurter Jr. and a company of actors culled from the outpatient population of a local methadone clinic, Bonfiglio is, perhaps, the first work by a modern ...
