Rising Plague: The Global Threat from Deadly Bacteria and Our Dwindling Arsenal to Fight Them9 reviews
Brad Spellberg

Prometheus Books, 2009

Is an era ending?
My parents lived in the time when antibiotics won out over bacterial infection. My very real fear is that they will live to see bacteria win again. Dr. Spellberg describes what that time was like, when capricious infections would strike at healthy adults and cripple or kill them in just a few days. More to the point, he describes what this time is like, when he sees drug-resistant infections ...

Pathophysiology for the Boards and Wards (Boards and Wards Series)5 reviews
Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Good bang for the buck
My background: I am a licensed DO in CA who attended Western U. I scored well above average on my boards, and the B&W series was one of my main study guides for COMLEX I-III...memorize this book and you will pass, and probably do pretty well. However, if I had to do it all over again, I'd buy this book BEFORE the first day of med school/DO school and annotate within the book/keep stickies in the ...

Microbiology for the Boards and Wards (Boards and Wards Series)1 review
Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2001

Me like alot!!!
This book is very, very good for Step I. It is concise and to the point... This book should always be in-stock. I highly recommend it for review only. Use it AFTER you have studied micro well. It will definitely help you pass Step I.

Microbiology and Immunology for the Boards and Wards: Theory and Practice (Boards and Wards Series)1 review
Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005

my last minute study attempt
I read this book the night before my micro board exam and made well over national average and class average. I recommend you use it to review if you've used it along with your class.

Pharmacology for the Boards and Wards (Boards and Wards Series)6 reviews
Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Above average
This book rocks out. Pharm was my weakest subject going into the shelf exams and I wasn't sure of how to study for it. An older classmate told me to read this book. I read the book cover-to-cover then reviewed it as much as possible within three days and took my test. My raw score was a 100 points ahead of the class average! I am usually a little (i.e. a few points) ahead of the class ...

Pathophysiology for the Boards and Wards: Diagnosis and Therapy (Boards and Wards Series)6 reviews
Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2003

Great Step 1 book
I wish I would have used this book prior to taking Step 1. This review book has many of the nit-picky details that I saw on my USMLE. I would recommend this book for those who have not taken Step 1 and I would also recommend the clinical boards and wards book for your clinical rotations. Good luck on your exam.
