new mage in world of darkness
i used ot play the old vampire the masquerade and i had little to no knowledge of mages or mage culture except some bargains i had struck with NPCs. so looking into the new world of darkness i was pretty interested in buying this book. it is really good, although i have not played as a mage yet, i would recomend this to any world of darkness player as a bit of research material. white wolf ...

Super Book
I love Science Notebooks. I wanted to do a notebook this year with more inquiry type investigations. This resource helped me to figure out what I wanted the kids to record and how to organize it. It is easy-to-read and understand.

another excellent reference
An excellent way to supplement the standard book on the Roman army by Wilkes, Campbell's reference book makes available at reasonable costs some primary information about the army. Here we have the political and legal views along side those of the commander and common soldier. A great resource for graduates and undergraduates.

Epic battles and a Sense of Urgency
For those who enjoy epic level battles where the little guy rises to power and glory only through a constant struggle against overwhelming odds, Werewolf will deliver that in spades. For those who enjoy the mixture of intense combat and deep spiritual reverence, Werewolf will deliver that in spades. And for those who wish to understand and appreciate the contrast between being man and wolf, ...

A great specialized book for the new Vampire
This book is an ideal resource for storytellers and players looking to play a "road game" of Requiem. It's got a lot of detail on why specific covenants would send their members on the road, the roles that various clans play in road coteries, specifics on concerns that vampires would face on the road, devotions, Cruac rituals, Theban sorcery, a sample of road antagonists or allies (including the ...

My Favorite WoD Game, Hands Down.
Let's face it, in the World of Darkness, hope is all too rare. Vampires are abberations of the natural order whose agelessness serves only to illustrate the beauty of death. Werewolves are fighting a losing battle against the Wyrm, the spirit of active destruction. Wraiths are dead souls wishing for Oblivion. Hunters are angsty mortals with nary a clue about their benefactors' identities ... ...

At last, a deeper look
The new Nosferatu Clanbook takes a new and novel approach by not presenting Nosferatu as being the be-all and end-all clan of Vampires. Taking a slightly more realistic look at the clan, it better illustrates their strengths and weaknesses then many of the books which have preceded it. While I personally find much of the charm in the book is to be found "between the lines", this may grate on ...

Bad guys, bad guys, bad guys...
Whoa boy. Now these are what I call villains. Fae so evil they even manipulate the manipulators of Camarilla, Sabbat and Wyrm, not to mention the Thallain, the really, _really_ dark reflections of the normal fae. The next time someone calls your Unseelie troll an Ogre, introduce him to a real one...

A sourcebook for White Wolf's "Storyteller System"
This is a must-have for any Storyteller that deals with the Umbra and spirits, for Mage or Werewolf. It is a very information-rich sourcebook, full of guidelines and expanded rules on spirits, and packed with information on the spirits themselves. There is a spiritual history of the Garou that is very informative

Excellent to Average
Here's a review that isn't tainted by grudges about the game from internet messageboards or Usenet and isn't inaccurate. In other words, a refreshing change from the other three reviews. Ascension is pretty uneven, but it is certainly comprehensive. Contrary to what the first review here says, it includes stuff from the very first supplements of the game. I had to look at my old books to ...

Excellent book!
This is just a great book. It's an excellent supplement to the Star Trek TNG RPG. Not only does it give you a bunch of new ships to play with(all Federation obviously) it gives oodles of info on things like the Merchant Marine and Starfleet Academy. While not needed, or what I'd call a "must buy", I would surely say if you do buy this book you won't be sorry. It's an excellent game ...

Philosophy in Late Antiquity
Taylor & Francis, 2007
How do you build a catapult? How do you organize an ambush? Can you teach yourself how to command an army? War was a key part of the life and culture of ancient Greece and Rome. It influenced every level of existence, from the men fighting hand to hand to defend their communities, to the significance economic impact of organising a large fighting force. The ancient writers who tell us about technical aspects of military practice and the ...
