If anything, an improvement on the first two books
As I write this, Brian K. Vaughan has finished work on the last issue of his truly massive Y: THE LAST MAN series. In terms of sustained narrative, it will certainly go down as one of the longest, most epic stories in the entire world of comics and graphic novels. The first two books in the series were good, very good, but this one might even be better. There are some wonderful new twists ...

Season 8 Going Great
Episodes 6-9 continue in "No Future for You". They continue the threads of the earlier five episodes and in the way we would expect from Joss Whedon. Here we find out what Faith and Giles have been up to as well as more about Willow's private life and Dawn's indiscretions. Still not enough about Xander and Buffy when I'm so used to them, especially Buffy, being the center of the show. But ...

Good, but perhaps weakest book in series
This trade paperback collects issues #32-36 of the excellent DC Comics series. All but the last feature guest artists instead of co-creator Pia Guerra. Though the series is still enjoyable, I'd echo some other reviewers' statements about this seeming like filler material. Agent 355, Dr. Mann and stowaway Yorick hitch a ride across the Pacific on a commercial ship 'The Whale' in pursuit of ...

The heat turns way up.
Although I like the previous issue better than this one, Motherland has it's own perks as the story starts to wrap up for our protagonists. Things get a little strange when one of the characters becomes fatally injured, and Yorick almost REALLY dies this time though not of his own occord. I still have no complaints about this series, there's a damn good fight scene, a couple questions finally get ...

Y: The Last Man is Rad
I'm not sure that I could tell you what Y's core values are, but I feel like they stray from them a bit as the series progresses (parhaps redefined). Moot point though, this is well worth a read. Get them all. I made a decision to own them after I read a friend's first issue....

best in the series
This is the best book in the series. I really started to like Yorick in this book. And the story begins moving forward after being drifting in the Midwest for a long time. It is well worth the read if you get the opportunity.

Great addition to the series
Paper Dolls had so many twists to it that I almost couldn't keep up. This series just gets you hooked and never fails to entertain. If you're looking for an example of why Y The Last Man is so highly regarded, check out volume 4 and this volume.

Better than I had hoped
Apocalyptic stories and gender politics, two of my favor things to read or watch. "Y: The Last Man -- Unmanned" was intense and gripping. I devoured it and wanted more. I'd heard about this graphic serial for years and am so glad I finally got a copy. I'm not sure I buy the decay of the world quite so much, women are very capable and are in most of the jobs required just not in the majority ...

The plot thickens and the fun continues
The first book in Brian K. Vaughan's Y: THE LAST MAN set up the premise: all the males in the world of every species have died except for loser named Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand. In the chaos that follows American society is oppressed by totalitarian Amazons, who are marked ideologically by an intense detestation of all things male (in later books they will even try to tear down ...

great storyline
this includes all the comic that is associated w/ the AoA storyline so you don't miss a thing. it might be a little confusing for the average reader who has no information to the AoA background, but w/ a little marvel knowledge of the universe and continuities then you will appreciate this collection a lot more.

Don't Buy Those Little Digest Books; Get The Big Honkin' Hardcover
I said it before and I'll say it again. This is THE way to read Runaways. Under the attractive dust jacket, the cover is made up of a soft black vinyl material that is extremely durable. The book itself is huge, letting you appreciate the art in a way that it may not have been able to be appreciated in the original comics and the infinitely smaller digest trade paperbacks. Plus, the book is ...

Nice Collection With a Different Structure
There is a trend in modern comics that I've really come to like. Around the third or fourth collection, a lot of regularly arc-oriented comics hit readers with a few shorter tales. One-shots, shorter arcs, whatever the case may be, it happens a lot, and I love it. Gaiman did it with The Sandman, Willingham did it with Fables, Mignola did it with Hellboy, Whedon is getting read to do it with ...

VAUGHAN AND HARRIS POWER BACK UP!
Ex Machina is one of those titles that should never work in the comic book medium. Former and short-lived superhero abandons his super-persona to become mayor of New York. And that happens before the start of the series. Let's be honest, if anyone but writer Vaughan and Harris were involved, this series simply wouldn't have worked. Ex Machina: Power Down is a return to greatness for the ...

A good comic gets better
Mitchell Hundred continues his third career: engineer, unwilling superhero, and now willing but inept mayor of NYC. Well, if you want something done strangely, count on an engineer. They're generally so honest that there's no way to guess what they'll do next - something logical, usually, and that always takes everyone by surprise. This fictional world moves through the year or so after the ...

Have to keep reading
It is impossible to judge series by the first arc. But it is clear that you have to read more - if Spiderman and others feel "cartoonish" this one is more mature, movie-like. This TPB contains an origin story and shows some tasks the lead character has to tackle - those not typical to your average superhero.
