Thanks to God for these two guys!
Coming from Windows 98, where I felt fairly comfortable and was knowledgeable enough, I can say if it were not for these two guys, I would not have been able to install Windows 2000 Professional on my machine, and set it up so that it doesn't consume as much resources; and set up my own Web Server, using IIS, just to name a couple of things. These guys took a lot of time to get down to the ...

Good reference
Now I have not read the book all the way through. I only use it as a reference when I can't figure something out on my own. It has had the answer every time I needed it, so I am very impressed so far. Also bought the book on the new version of Office by the same authors and have the same thing to say about it. Good Stuff

Anything you want to know, and some you don't...
I bought this book as a resource and an overview of XP Home Edition. I got much more than I bargained for. I read the entire book, cover to cover (skimming parts that didn't apply to me, of course); and over-all I found the book to be written in understandable language and in a tone that will appeal to many lay readers of computer literature. The authors have done an excellent job of relaying ...

Good for beginners and moderately experienced users
I am a UNIX professional who has fallen behind in my knowledge of Windows. So, when I purchased my latest PC, I decided to jump back in and learn Windows XP by purchasing this book. Keep in mind that I have used Windows 95/98/2000 in the past, but only to get my work done. Saying that, I did not find the first half of this book worthwhile. It very much holds your hand and is lacking detail and ...

Worth every cent you are going to spend
This book is perfect overview of VBScript and Scripting Windows XP. Author explains every aspect of Scripting without going into too much of details. Beginners will probably need additional info. But if you ask me nobody could do better job explaining of so many topics in one book. There are plenty examples you could use right away on the PC. Thumbs up!!!

A Good Book it is However, Beginner Book it is Not
A+++ a CD! Well written and resourced with good humor mixed in to break up any monotonous verbiage. As most of you know Que publishes some of the best material out there aside from some Microsoft Press books as well(I like em). Like others that have noted in previous reviews this book starts you out with the assumption that that you have used Windows before. This is a good thing for experienced ...

If you're having Windows trouble, or Planning to ....
I got in this imposing 700+ page book, looked at it a little and put it on my desk to get to later. Well, you know how that works. Then I was trying to delete some files. And I got a message that the directory was messed up and to run CHKDSK. What's that, and how do you run it, and can I run it while I'm doing other things. So I picked up the book. The index sent me to page 513. There's CHKDSK. ...

Using Windows XP Home, Third Edition
An excellent resource text, well written and well organised: it's comprehensive and has a good index, making it easy to use. It seems to meet the authors' stated goals of being accurate, concise, practical and interesting, no mean feats for a text dealing with a rather dry subject.

Covering all versions makes it a valuable book.
Recently I was doing some consulting for a company and performing a Windows XP Professional Rollover and upgrade. I was also teaching a class for A+ and the new objectives which has XP questions. This book while not a certification specific book, handled both jobs very well. What this book is is more than how to configure the desktop and change the background or setup XP to look like the ...
