A great book on first ladies!
this book was a great help to me while I was writing a report on influential first ladies. The author includes interesting facts and much more detail on the first lady's lives than the average book on first ladies. The book includes the first ladies personal insights and what they were interested in - politics, education, etc. It really shows how some first ladies played the presidential ...

An Outstanding Biography
Writer Carl Anthony has composed an outstanding biography in his work Florence Harding. Harding Florence Harding been one of the more easily understood or admired First Lady's in this nations history, this book would have been written years ago. However, Mrs. Harding's legacy has been in the past told and retold more as a tabloid story than factual account. When approaching this book, one ...

An interesting look at an underrated First Lady!
I've been a history buff most of my life. In kindergarten, I could recite the U.S. Presidents. Many years later I added the Vice Presidents. Perhaps someone could name all the First Ladies. Note: some Presidents were widowers when they took office. One was a lifelong bachelor. Others remarried, before, during, or after their terms. Nellie Taft has received relatively little attention in ...

nice pictures (and text)
This book is primarily worth it for the mnay great photos of JFK and Jackie, especially of the White House rooms themselves. That said, the text is pretty good, as well. Two items of interest--that isn't J. Edgar Hoover behind Jackie on the front cover but lookalike Secret Service agent Stewart G. "Stu" Stout, Jr. Also, I like the picture of Marilyn Monroe with Secret Service agent Floyd M. ...

A Long Overdue Account
Mr Anthony has pulled together through obvious painstaking research a brilliant guidebook for all history lovers. Accounts of more recent first ladies with the advent of television, radio etc. may be familiar to some readers, but facts abound on the lesser knowns. Frances Cleveland, Julia Tyler etc. come alive before your very eyes as the stories unfold. The position of First Lady (we also ...

Amazing...
This book has captured the essence of Jackie's life, not only during her JFK years, but in her post-political life as well. It portrays her as an adventurous, spirited woman vaulted to an American icon by her adoring public. Spectacularly written, I was highly impressed.

Entertaining look at White House hsitory
I purchased this book yesterday and I can't put it down. It is filled with great pictures and stories of the forty-one famlies who lived in the White House. This is a great source of presidential trivia and provides a human element to the most famous family in America. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in American history and the lives of the presidents.

Amusing, enjoyable, entertaining, pleasurable, cool ... fun
Oh my! I saw there was only one review of this fine and funny little book, and it seems to have come from the sorest of the soreheads. If one cannot gain enormous pleasure from the chuckles at the many "jokes" here, one might find satisfaction with this little tome as a profound exploration of and comment on the ingenuity of American entrepreneurs. Bravo Mr. Anthony! And thanks for this ...
