Guess What?!
This is such a great book! As a (...), I found this book fun, exciting, and a kind of mystery. If you don't like guessing, or tyring to figure out the plot, this book isn't for you. This book keeps you guessing 'til the very end. My sister, who is 10, also fell in love with this book. The number one reason I read this book is because it has a strong beginning. A little confusing, but strong. A ...

You don't want to leave
"In My Enemies House," is about a Jewish family, who are in a living nightmare, soon after `the people arrived. This was the WW2 time when "the people" hated the Jews, with the many attempts to try to escape from going to the getto.this took place in a small town outside of Germany, in the years of 1938-1945. Jesper6 reviews

What a Suspenseful Book!!!
This book, "Jesper", a sequel to "Lisa", is a quite suspenseful story for a topic on war. Stories that have themes on war always seem boring to me, but these two books have changed my likes for books. This is an overview of what the book is mainly about: Jesper and his fellow resistance fighters help bring their home country to freedom from their opposing country, Germany. Denmark's Allies, ...

Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 1993

The coolest book !
I read this book for a school book report, and it turned out to be so interesting that I coulnd't put it down. The characters of Zev and Aaron are easy to identify with and amazingly realistic. The events are very exciting and it keeps you in suspense. It also teaches you about some of the horrible things that Jews have had to go through. You should definitely read this book!

Horrifying, eye opening account of the witch hunts
Carol Matas, best known for the "Of Two Minds" novels and her various Holocaust fictions, has created a shocking novella about two women who find themselves trapped in a witch hunt in Renaissance France. Suzanne Rives, a beautiful and fiercely independent widow and skilled midwife, refuses advances from two men to live with her daughter, the main character Rose. People have already been ...

Daniel's Story72 reviews
Carol Matas

Scholastic Paperbacks, 1993

An absolutely wonderful
historical fiction. If I didn't know it was fiction I would definitely think it was a true account. The story moves you from incident to the next not leaving you behind in any detail. I read this to my children for a unit study about the Holocaust. There are hard details to recount but definitely worth every word.

Kris's War4 reviews
Carol Matas

Point, 1992

A book NEVER to be forgotten!
I first read this book 10 years ago when I was a teenager and I still enjoy it. I find the book intriguing and somewhat unforgettable because of the way the Author goes into descriptions of certain key points in the book. I especially liked the description of the night where they have to collect a drop, it was very well written from how they knew where and when just by a simple broadcast on ...

Primrose Path7 reviews

Econo-Clad Books, 1997

The Primrose Path
What happens when a trusted rabbi, someone you respect, violate you and your family? When you ask for help, how does the rest of your community respond? How often do community members turn against those who were violated? How do sexual predators get away with it? The Primrose Path is an extremely important fictional book, which outlines how this happens. It's interesting as I was reading The ...

The Garden3 reviews

The Key To Understanding Current Conflict in the Middle East
This is a wonderful book, the sequel to AFTER THE WAR. THE GARDEN is much longer than AFTER THE WAR. It sheds more light on the life of Ruth and her family when they get to Isreal. I read this book without knowing it would help me understand Middle Eastern conflict of today. Confused about Yassir Arafat and Sharon? Than read this book. It is the root struggle of the conflicts of Isreal today. ...
