The book is truly what the title suggest - a quick reference guide. It makes an Oracle user's life easy by putting SQL commands in a clear concise manner. If you are an Oracle user, who uses Oracle extensively using SQL command interface and not the GUI, this book is for you.

One of the most complete references about Windows 2000
This book is one of the most complete Windows 2000 books you could find. I read this book from cover to cover and is a great book to have as a complete Windows 2000 Server reference. Not full on every aspects (if you are looking for clustering configuration, this is not the book to purchase). It covers DHCP, WINS, DNS, Active Directory, Internet Information Services...and the rest of the Windows ...

An Essential reference in you Windows Server 2008 Library
If you've looked around for books on Windows Server 2008 then you know you have choice. I've done the searches, not just for 2008, but for 2000 and 2003 before it. But for any version I look out especially for the Administrators Companions, they form the core of my reference material and have helped on numerous occasions in the past. So I would really recommend starting with this one and then ...

A Nice Memory Aid
If you are an Oracle database administrator and you have a background as a unix or Microsoft sysadmin, then you might wonder why there is a need for an ENTIRE book on backup of Oracle's database. It is not that you doubt the need for a backup. But a whole book? In unix, you do a "man" on the backup command and you are shown a few screens of options. Likewise for restoring. Under Microsoft, a ...

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Resource Kit
This book is amazing for learning Windows xp Professional. Even though I have a different version of XP it helped with tweaking the computer's graphics and multimedia. It is good book if you are staying at home on a rainy day and want to tinker with your pc. The book is thorough and covers installation to troubleshooting. I haven't read all of it yet because it is like a encyclopedia but from ...

Saved Me Hours of Time
I maintain a small business server for a local company. When we recently upgraded to MS SBS I found I needed some help, so I purchased this book. In just the first use it saved me many hours of time and enabled me to set up the Exchange Server to automatically download mail from POP3 Website accounts and store it in the local mailbox. Users are happy, I'm happy (no storage used on the Web server ...

Full of Good Tips and Useful Information
This book has at least 50 good tips of useful information that go beyond any wizards. Reviewers who say this book has nothing but wizards, probably did not actually read the book. There are sidebars titled "Under The Hood" and "Real World" that provide explanations and suggested practices. There also are sections entitled Note, Tip, Secutity Alert, Caution and Planning that provides ...

Comprehensive and very easy to read
Don't get scared by its size. I thought the contents were very well presented and easy to read & understand. I thougth notes about what one can avoid from the author's years of experience was very helpful and proved to be true in many occasions for me as well. I used this book to plan out a server deployment and migration for a client and I was very grateful for the deployment tips.

Tries to be cute
By now looking at the published date you can tell this book is a tad dated. However the information in it is sound and still applicable to today's environment. I am afraid that this is one of those books that nobody likes because if you already know the information them the book is too basic. If you do not know the information the book is too confusing. Voodoo is a prefect title for the book ...

Very good
While totally dissecting Small Business Server, Russell & Crawford have managed to make this book an enjoyable read. It dives deep into every aspect of SBS without resorting to a lot of terrible technical language. Plain English is used throughout and everyday examples are given in order to make subjects easier to understand. Not just a complete reference dictionary, but a valuable learning ...
