Nice books weird design
The books contained in this book are fabulous, but the book itself has some ugly pages with unresolved maximalism. With empty interviews, brief explanations on the books and boring graphics I can't give it more than a 3.

Too untraditional for me...
This isn't what I thought it was going to be. After rereading the description I wouldn't say it isn't accurate but when it says mag "art" it really means art. I'm a Journalism Major with an emphasis in magazines. I've started two magazines and published 50 spreads and 3 covers. I didn't feel that anything in this book reflected design that could be used in realistic publications because it ...

Not so innovative
After a lengthy search for a design book on dvd packaging, I was excited to find this one. However when I received it, I was somewhat disappointed. While there are some very nicely designed dvd booklets/trays, there are not many truly innovative pieces. I thought it would contain at least a few that were more in line with specialty packaging ie; movies, television etc. If you're looking for ...

Maximalism: The Graphic Design of Decadence& Excess

Awesome
This is one of the best book of my personal library. I think maximalism is what the next graphic design approach is all about. I think it comes to fix the "form & function" ideal - I think it has been misunderstood, too focused on the function, the designs was been to much "Bauhaus", art deco, minimalistic. Our architeture nowadays is an easy way to identify this minimal and "too much ...

Very Inspiring
Great book. A big variety of examples. This book is not about the images which you can on a regular cd sleeves. You won't find here any covers of gangster-rap grills close-up and other bs. This book is about a different way to approach a cd packaging, new ways of expressing the product (music) through the actual cd "cases". Highly recommend for a personal library. plus don't forget to check out ...

I think its a great book for some fresh Ideas. It shows many styles as well as designers from all over the country. Every subject matter and every other company can be seen in this book. I like the short paragraphs about each poster. Not too much text, more images. GREAT

Yes, yes, yes!
I had to write this review to let you know that the "Look Inside" feature for this book does it NO justice whatsoever. In fact, it hurts it, to be honest. The designs selected in this book are some of the most inspirational I have seen in one book. I'm one of those people that use this type of book to kick-start a project, inspire a brainstorming session, or even break through a block or ...
