Five Stars - spoilers follow
A very good biography on Prince Leopold who's mostly known for his bleeding disease. Unlike other biographies the author doesn't waste time on who his parents are and their backgrounds instead she begins right off with his birth which I really liked. Sometimes it gets tedious going through all the background information before getting to the main subject. I also liked how it completely focused on ...

Great Bio of a little known royal
In the many books about Queen Victoria's family that I have read, Leopold seems to be known only for his haemophilia. He seems to have been the most popular member within the royal family, although not with his mother, who seemed to see him as a convenient drone. She was notorious for trying to keep her children on a leash long into adulthood. Leopold appears to have overcome these obstacles. ...

Excellent Book With New Information
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in the Romanovs. It has many unpublished photographs and draws upon newly discovered family correspondence that debunks many long-held perspectives that almost always originated from the very few family members who published autobiographies in English--and seem to blame certain family members for their unhappiness in their own lives or needed to ...

What a photo collection!
There are certain photos that I simply expect to see when perusing volumes about European royalty. However, upon receiving Zeepvat's book, I was thrilled to find so many rarely seen photos of some of the more obscure descendants of the "Grandmother of Europe." If you're a royalty buff like I am, you can spend hours immersed in this marvelous book and its detailed family trees.

A Romanov Tapestry
This is a well written book that covers the last century of the Russian Romanov dynasty. The author has chosen a wide focus rather than a narrow one on Nicholas II and Alexandra. For once we get to meet the other family memebers, learn about their personalities and what events shaped their lives and the fate of the dynasty. We also get to read in detail about the various palaces and estates the ...

Excellent
Although this book is advertised as a photo book, particuarly interesting for me was the information it gives about other, more obscure members of the Romanov family. Most photo's are accompanied by a paragraph discussing the family member involved, and this is especially helpful to me as a fan of woman's history when discussing Romanov Princesses who married into other European royal families. I ...
