Journey to the West
I purchased this for my son for his birthday and I haven't seen his face since without one of the volumes in front of it. He absolutely loves it. I tried, unsuccessfully to find this set at other booksellers and as always when I need something, Amazon came through. Thank you for excellent service and availability. I look forward to many more purchases in the future.

Adventures of Monkey King3 reviews
Cheng-En Wu, R. L. Gao

Victory Press, 1989

Lots of fun
This is a very readable version of the monkey king classic. The sentences are short and simple, written in standard American English. The book is packed with action and is lots of fun to read. The character of monkey is rather naughty, like Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn. The pictures have a definite Western slant to them, which is rather amusing.

Adventures of the Monkey God1 review
Wu Cheng-en

Heian International, 1987

Good abridged version of the chinese classic
All great civilizations have great epics; the Greeks had Troy, the Romans had the story of Remus and Romulus, the Indians have the Ramayana, and the Chinese have the Tripitaka; also known as "The Adventures of the Monkey God" or "Journey to the West". This is probably the only work of fiction to be considered as one the great Chinese classics along the lines of Tao Te Ching, Analects, Art of ...
