The Politics of Economic Leadership: The Causes and Consequences of Presidential Rhetoric
B. Dan Wood
Princeton University Press
, 2007
The American president is widely viewed by the public and media as the nation's single most influential political and economic figure. But social scientists have often concluded that presidential words fall "on deaf ears" or have little lasting impact on policy or public opinion. Then why did Bill Clinton make 12,798 public references to the economy during his eight years in office compared with Harry Truman's mere 2,124 during his own two ...

Great Book!!!
I found this book offers exactly what I needed. I learned how to best manage my SQL 2005 Database Server. I found the information to be accurate and well written, an excellent reference that I've used many times. I really appreciated how the authors used real world experience to relay hard to understand concepts.

A wonderful book!
A Quiet Place is a wonderful book to help kids realize that it is good for them to be quiet and think. With all the noise they experience during the day and their constant activities (including music, television, computers, electronic toys, etc.), it is so important for them to be able to think in quiet and daydream. This book gives wonderful examples of the different places a boy goes in his ...

A rational approach to open source adoption...
All too often, the discussion about using open source software in an organization takes on an emotional or political tone. And since most information about open source decisions tends to feed that emotion, it's nice to find a book that tries to look at the subject from a rational perspective. This book does a very good job of that... Open Source For The Enterprise by Dan Woods and Gautam ...

Very Helpful Book on SOA
This is a very helpful book on SOA because it provides the business case for SOA, an excellent technical overview, and real-life examples of how to use it. While it is written from an SAP perspective, any IT group that is investigating SOA will find value in this book -- as it describes how SOA impacts different layers of the IT stack (from persistence to business objects, to process ...
Bureaucratic Dynamics: The Role Of Bureaucracy In A Democracy (Transforming American Politics)
B. Dan Wood
,
Richard W. Waterman
Westview Press
, 1994
The authors of this volume seek to dispel two powerful "myths of the bureaucracy" -- the belief that the federal bureaucracy is unresponsive to government and the belief that democracy itself is imperiled by an out-of-control bureaucratic process. Wood and Waterman contend that the process is in fact a highly dynamic and democratic one. Offering readable case studies and well-paired figures and tables (presented in both technical and ...

Very good survey of SAP NetWeaver
This is the first "for Dummies" book I have read and I was very pleased. The authors did an excellent job explaining all of the elements of SAP NetWeaver and how they inter-relate. As a business executive trying to get my arms around the technology, this was exactly what I needed. It will be valuable reference for the future, as well.

Practical and Usable
The authors have experience both as T-SQL developers and trainers, and it shows. Essential concepts and techniques are explained clearly without talking down to the reader. There's thorough coverage of the most commonly used T-SQL elements, in an easy-to-read style. It's well organized and includes appendices and a good index, making it easy to use as a reference. I work with both SQL Server 2000 ...

The fitting end of a series of Archive titles
This brings an end to the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents' Archives series from DC. Masterminded by the great Wally Wood in the 60s, the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents' series, with its heroes Dynamo, Noman and others were never quite a match for DC's Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern and others, nor Marvel's Fantastic Four, Spider-man and Avengers. Nevertheless, for a young boy who found them among the ...
