The Spa From Hell
Fortunately, I have been to a spa because if I hadn't, and then read this book, I might have been too scared to try one! Once again, Skye comes through and finds the culprits even with her mother and her ex-boyfriend's mother with her at the spa. I just love Skye. I don't think of her as a size 12 but more like a size 14. After all, she sneaks out of the spa to replenish her food stash! ...

Absolutely Riveting
I just love Skye Denison, Denise Swanson's amateur sleuth. She's a school psychologist who has to battle parents who can't wrap their flaccid minds around the fact that perhaps their little Betty or Reginald isn't as perfect as paradise. With these little battles to...well, battle, the last thing poor Skye needs is someone to murder her beloved grandmother, Antonia Leofanti. But someone has. Sky ...

A Series That Gets Better & Better
I say this every time a new book comes out in this series, but this is the best one yet. Skye is a wonderful character, and I felt like I got to know Skye a lot better in this latest book. I was especially pleased that she has a spiritual side. And would'nt these books would make for a terrific TV mystery series on the Family or Hallmark channels?

Mattel Murders
This is a fun little lite cozy murder mystery, offering insights such as this father-daughter advice from 30-something School Psychologist Skye Denison's dad: You only need 2 tools, WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape. Anything more complicated than that, call me. And here's a fun flashback from Skye's Funeral ...

Best in the series
Denise Swanson hits her stride in this, the third book of the Scumble River Mystery Series. Skye Denison is in the middle of an unfruitful counseling session with an uncooperative student when she is asked to check out a situation in the school gym. She arrives only to find that a young girl who is playing the lead in the school production of "Sleeping Beauty" is dead. Skye cannot resist the ...

Another fun Skye Denison cozy mystery
Skye Denison has hired sexy contractor Beau Hamilton to renovate the old house she inherited. Everyone recommended him, after all. His good looks don't hurt either. Especially since Skye has sworn off men since her breakup with her boyfriend. Unfortunately Skye soon realizes his work isn't all it's cracked up to be. Before she can fire him, she finds him murdered. Who could have killed ...

Murder of a Snake in the Grass (Scumble River Mysteries, Book 4)13 reviews

Signet, 2003

Fun Read- as usual
I enjoy reading Denise Swanson- the main character is not the usual for investigating a crime- a school psychologist. So there is a different slant at how things develop than others within the genre. I will continue to read the series. There's humor, mystery, a touch of romance- of course with relationship committment an issue to add to the complexity. Overall- an enoyable read.

Fun!
This was a great book and I was glad to return to Scumble River, but what's up with starting to break up Simon and Skye! I really liked Simon, so I hope they work things out...what a way to leave us hanging on for the next book!

She's Bright, Gutsy, Funny and the Perfect Amateur Sleuth!
Being a social worker myself, I found this to be a fun read. I found the ending to be just a bit weak and forced, but that may have just been because I'd had a hard day. Who knows? But I do plan to read the second in the series and hopefully the rest. Skye is the kind of person that I think I'd be friends with in real life, and I like her nerve. I think this is a great series, and I plan to read ...
