Fabulous Pictures
This year in our studies of Medieval History we will cover Spain. I wanted a picture book that represented past and present. As we unwrapped the book, the pictures are so stunning my 9 yr old commented that it felt like we were in Spain and could we go there. My daughter is now interested in learning more about Spain. Mission accomplished.

Glorious Photographs of the Ruins of the Ancient World
Note: Your "helpful" votes are appreciated. Thanks. I bought this heavy, large-format book new and have never regretted the price, and now you can buy it used for a few dollars. This book with its long shots and close-up takes you right to the mysterious places of the world. I'm just now looking at the large-format photo of "Petra, the Rose Red City." I never realized how big the church ...

Great visuals
This book is not much on narration -- but it isn't really supposed to be. The book is filled with outstanding photographs, prints, drawings, maps, and architectural plans that will be useful to anyone in the business of teaching social studies. This is one of those wonderfully inexpensive oversized hardcover books that makes you feel good just by owning it.
