The Family Handyman: Woodworking Room by Room (Family Handyman)1 review
Family Handyman Magazine editors

Readers Digest, 1995

Good Information, but dated!
I enjoyed this book very much. It has many interesting projects for every room in your house. The explanations are clear and easy to follow. The only negative is that the projects themselves are dated. The ideas and techniques are great, but you'll have to update the style yourself. Overall I would recommend this book.

How a house works (Family Handyman)5 reviews
Family Handyman Magazine editors

Readers Digest, 1994

This book is a must-read for any home buyer or owner.
This book is a rare blend of the fundamentals of residential construction, expressed in the most friendly language. Duane has an unusual two-fold gift to understand all the technical aspects of our homes and the ability to communicate that expertise in the most approachable manner. It's like having the 60-year wisdom of a construction foreman and a dutch uncle in your back pocket. I have ...

Storage & Shelving Solutions: Over 70 Projects and Ideas That Fit Your Budget, Space, and Lifestyle3 reviews
Family Handyman Magazine Editors

Readers Digest, 2006

A project in here for every skill level
I have had this book for a little over a year now, and I have a feeling that I will keep this book for many more to come. When I first opened this book up I was really impressed with the look of the majority of the projects. The directions are very easy to follow. Overall I think this is the best book I have picked up on this subject. As a subscirber to Family Handyman magazine this left me ...

Toys, Games, and Furniture: Over 30 Woodworking Projects You Can Make for Children3 reviews
Family Handyman Magazine Editors

Readers Digest, 2005

Great Book
This book has lots of really neat projects and ideas. I was pleasently surprised at how much I liked. I gave it to my dad for Christmas and everyone was putting in their orders before the night was done.

I built the rocking horse on the front cover.
I built the rocking horse on the front cover of this book. It turned out pretty well. The drawings in the book are fairly easy to follow. However, the written instructions have some holes in the explanation. In addition, the instructions imply that stationary power tools are recommended for this project, but hand-held tools would work as well. I seriously doubt that this horse could be ...

Must-have for new homeowners!
I purchased this book as a gift for my husband. Being new homeowners, we're often frustrated not knowing how to take care of issues around the house. This book has EVERYTHING you need to know to do almost any project around the house. Great illustrations, photos and directions. I know we'll be reaching for this book again and again! Would make a great housewarming gift!

Dream Backyards1 review
Family Handyman Magazine Editors

Readers Digest, 2006

Misleading
I bought this book thinking it would have plans for the shed that is featured in the advertisements. What it contains is the same picture as in the ad... that is all. A total waste of my money.

The Family Handyman: Easy Repair (Family Handyman)1 review
Family Handyman Magazine editors

Readers Digest, 1994

Easy to follow, step by step with color photographs.
I really like this book. It is so simple to understand. It has real life photographs showing exactly how to do it yourself. I am a woman and find it hard to find a book that makes it so simple. It is well worth it's price considering the money you save by doing it yourself. I checkeed it out at the library but will be purchasing my own for sure!

The Family Handyman: Decks, Patios, and Porches (Family Handyman)1 review
Family Handyman Magazine editors

Readers Digest, 1996

Good starting point
I particularly like the section on paver patios. It has good ideas for deck and patio projects, and serves as a good place to start planning your deck or patio project. I don't think this book is all you need to build your project, though. You may need more documentation.
