Revealing a Medical Mystery
You will like this book if you enjoy the medical mystery-thriller! I was living in Las Vegas at the time the murder of Kathy Augustine came to light. She had a reputation of being someone hard to deal with and she was also a member of the Nevada Republican Party. I remember three things.....that her prior husband died suddenly, that she was involved with a new man shortly after the last ...

A MUST-HAVE for Political Scientists
As someone that has both interest in and fear of political methodology, I find Unifying Political Methodology an accessible reference work for graduate students. A methodology text by this author can be a little intimidating, but King shows he is more than the foremost methodologist in the discipline, but a great teacher as well. Unifying Political Methodology offers a progressive step in ...

a must read for all parents
As a true crime reader and a parent, I found this book very disturbing but interesting. It made me speak again to my children and what can happen to them in a blink of an eye. Westley was a TRUE MONSTER. It is a shame that he never got all the help he needed. The story is very graphic but it gets the point across. It almost makes me never want to let my children out of my sight again. Read ...

All the advantages and disadvantages of statistical reasoning applied to qualitative political science
This book takes the basic logic of statistical inference and applies it to qualitative research design in political science. As several reviewers note, it is not a book on statistics, nor indeed does it pretend to be. However, it extends the logic of statistical research design into nonquantitative research. That much it does very well. By thinking about how to test hypotheses and how to ...

a Christmas perspective most of us have all but forgotten about...
An awesome book to share with your entire family regardless of age. Thank you Thomas King for the subtle yet effective reminder that Christmas should be so much more than an annual buying frenzy for merchandise we probably can't afford and didn't really need in the first place. Terrific story with wonderful illustrations. Highly recommended.

Outstanding Account!
This book is fast-paced and full of details about this very interesting case. I don't usually read the so-called "quickie" books, but this one ranks at the top of the heap. This book also introduced me to some of the author's earlier works, which are also excellent.

not comprehensive enough
This is a book on (Bayesian) demographic forecasting for statisticians and experienced demographers, but it is not suitable for beginners of demography. It it is easy to understand what the general idea, or logic, behind each method is when you read this book, they are explained quite clearly. The "problem" is with the technical parts: you have to be a trained statistician/mathematician to ...

Another Great KING Book
King brings a case featured on TV's 48 HOURS skillfully to the printed page. His meticulous research into each character must take hundreds of hours, but worth every minute. Although another reviewer didn't enjoy reading the true court transcript, I learned how a real one differs tremendously from how they are portrayed on TV.

LOTS OF REALLY GOOD STUFF IN HERE!
. I think my review title says it all. I tried to come up with a way of summarizing the material in this 350 page book, and couldn't. There was too much! Jobson and Whidden, two world class sailors, packed each chapter full of information--well may not the first chapter--that was short. But the rest of them were long, detailed and packed to the gills with important information. ...

Excellent discussion of Computer systems and controls
I got this book while enrolled in auto tech school several years ago. I was searching for a book which discussed the evolution of automotive electrical controls from their beginnings (mid-to-late 70's) up to current OBD2. I wanted something that went into technical details about the interworkings of the older ECMS and their output/input sensors. When I found this book, it was almost like someone ...

"Peaceful" Oregon!
"Blood Lust" represents good no nonsense true crime about a serial killer in Oregon. That seemingly peaceful and scenic State certainly has had more than its' share of sickos, as TC aficionados (and no doubt the natives) are well aware. In BL, the protagonist is one Dayton Leroy Rogers who killed and mutilated eight young Portland area women in the mid 1980s. There is little suspense here. ...
