Joy of Cooking: All About Vegetarian8 reviews
Irma S. Rombauer, Ethan Becker, ...

Scribner, 2000

Excellent addition to our cook books collection
This is a very well-organized book, with simple, clear, specific directions on how to cook a variety of vegetarian dishes. It starts with the basics of cooking and goes on to describe how to make some tasty, good-looking dishes. Has lots of pictures. We just got the book and finished browsing through it. My wife and I are vegetarians and cook a lot, and we can tell the recipes are good. We ...

Joy of Cooking, Miniature Edition9 reviews
Irma S. Rombauer, Marion Rombauer Becker, ...

Running Press Miniature Editions, 2000

joy of cooking
very dissapointed in this minature version of this classis cookbook. I thought I was ordering a regular full sized joy of cooking. I saw nothing when ordering that indicated that this would be a minature (a joke perhaps). I'm concerned about returning it as I may be charged again and then have about 9 dollars wrapped up in shipping charges and no book. You've given me cold feet about ordering ...

Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006155 reviews
Irma S. Rombauer, Marion Rombauer Becker, ...

Scribner, 2006

Cook up some classics!
Originally a self-published book in 1931, and no less than nine revisions later, this thick volume of recipes (it's got to be at least 3 inches thick) is a great addition to anyone's cook book library. But wait! This book is not merely just a collection of recipes- although with 4000 classic recipes and an additional 500 new ones, that would make it worth buying alone. No, this cook book ...

Joy of Cooking: All About Breakfast and Brunch3 reviews
Irma S. Rombauer, Ethan Becker, ...

Scribner, 2001

Lovely Design & Yummy Food
This book has the nicest page layout of photographs and recipes I've seen in a long time. It has recipes for simple things like different kinds of hot cocoa to cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, and tarts. The picture of the apple walnut muffins makes me salivate! This would make a great gift.

The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1985

A grand overview
This is a great book that should serve as a reference to other cook books. I often find a recipe in other, more specific books, and then cross reference the ingredients and procedures with "The Joy of Cooking". i have also found the beverages section to serve as a very helpful guide to many "standard" mixed drink recipes.

Joy of Cooking 19641 review
Irma S. Rombauer, Marion Rombauer Becker

BOBBS MERRILL CO, 1964

The best cookbook on the market
I was given the 1964 edition of The Joy of Cooking by my mother when I was in my teens and there is no better than this one in our opinion. Mine had fallen apart from years worth of use and the one that I received was in practically mint condition for a 40 year old version. I would recommmed this to all who love to cook.

My go to book for fast everyday family meals
I'll start this review by saying I consider myself a little bit of a foodie. I have many cook books that cover all the basic types of cuisine we enjoy. Most of these cooks books have been used to execute elaborate dinner parties, to impress. But, when it came it cooking every day food on a budget, I was sometimes at a loss. I finally broke down and asked my mom for the Joy of Cooking for my ...

Joy of Cooking 1931 Facsimile Edition: A Facsimile of the First Edition 19318 reviews
Irma S. Rombauer

Scribner, 1998

Fantastic re-issue - before major publishing
This book is the 1st, as in before they got picked up by a major publisher. Don't let that kid you. This book is GREAT and professional. Irma made up the style of cookbook we know today. Listing all ingredients up front etc. A true pioneer. She took her book to a little printer and had a run made. That book (which this is a faithful copy of) fell into the right hands and the rest was cookbook ...

Joy of Cooking Christmas Cookies6 reviews

Scribner, 1996

Holiday cookies that look great and taste good!
I've used this cookie book when making holiday cookies for family and friends for the last several years, and the results have always been a huge hit. Too often Christmas cookies look great but taste terrible - not something to worry about with this book. I particularly recommend the Cranberry-Cherry Pinwheels. They are delicious and surprisingly easy to prepare. However, be forwarned that ...

The Joy - What Else?
I spent half a day just reading through this one - you will be digging out mixing bowls, flour, sugar, butter, baking sheets, and cooling racks after about 15 minutes into this book. Well, what else can you say about the American dynasty of cooks? The photos are beautiful - if they don't get you, nothing will!

Practical book
I bought four different books in preparation of the harvest season and having no idea what to do with 40L of berries. Of the four, this is the only one that is effectively illustrated, nicely organized and gives you all you need to know in a little more than 120 pages. It covers all the sorts of fruits and veg that most people will be happy with while leaving room for variation and ...

Ultimate cooking experience
The Joy of Cooking has made cooking a truly satisfying experience for me. But it's much more than a recipe book for great food. Flavorful
All About Grilling, is a refreshing book of new ideas for outdoor cooking and entertaining. I was very impressed with the different combinations of ingredients, the presentation of the meal, the grilled side dishes, and the rubs and sauces. I received the book as a gift and have enjoyed using it for my summer entertaining. I am now purchasing a book for a friend.
