Star Trek: Insurrection13 reviews
J. M. Dillard

Diane Pub Co, 1998

Another great novelization!
J.M. Dillard has with, Star Trek: Insurrection done another great job of novelizing a movie! I always approach novelization's with a little skepticism as far as what's put on page between the scenes on screen. That said, I don't really do that with her work. She captures the spirit of the film perfectly and put's some really good scenes in that we don't see on film. Thank you to the author ...

Great Sci-Fi
I really enjoyed this book as I could relate it to Enterprise. The author really knows the characters. It is a great book to read and will keep you in suspense.

Star Trek Sketchbook & Star Trek Next Generation Sketchbook: The Movies1 review
Herbert F. Solow, Yvonne Fern Solow, ...

Pocket Books, 1998

The most original book of original series
This book is one of the better for a Star Trek's fan. In their chapters are many sketches and original pieces of the series. The designs of Matt Jefferies for the sets, (Part1), the design of the original Enterprise, (- born almost like a Warbird?-, Parts 2,3 & 4), the shuttlecraft and the weapons (Parts 5 & 6). Brillant the Part 7 with The Lost Set and the original scale model of it, (great ! ...

Resistance (Star Trek: The Next Generation)29 reviews
J.M. Dillard

Star Trek, 2007

Very well done Borg story
I found this novel entertaining and quite well done, connecting up storylines and Star Trek Voyager and TNG. I enjoyed the Crusher/Picard storyline, but I didn't completely like the characterization of Janeway, but it was close enough. I loved both Voyager and TNG and found it a good read.

Emissary (Star Trek Deep Space Nine, No 1)13 reviews
J.M. Dillard, Michael Piller, ...

Star Trek, 1993

DS9 #1 Emissary - The beginning of the best series!
Deep Space Nine #1 "Emissary" brings forth the beginning of Star Trek's best and most controversial series to the franchise. I say controversial in that at times, this series whether when it was airing or on DVD and in print it seems to be treated as the red headed stepchild of Star Trek. This doesn't matter though, because in the end, the very principles that make up Star Trek Deep Space Nine; ...

Star Trek First Contact (Star Trek The Next Generation)15 reviews
J. M. Dillard, Ronald D. Moore, ...

Pocket Books, 1996

A wonderful novelization with valuable insight of its own
This is, of course, the novelization of the highly successful Star Trek: The Next Generation film of the same name. First Contact refers not to first contact with the Borg, for, six years later, Picard still bears the mental scars of his assimilation in the form of Locutus, but to Earth's first contact with an alien civilization. It is a story that had yet to be told, although Captain Kirk and ...

Star Trek Federation Passport: A Mini Travel Guide & Star Trek Passport1 review
J.M. Dillard

Star Trek, 1996

Star Trek Federation Passport
This little booklet is a treasury of Star Trek lore ca. 1996. It includes topics ranging all the way from "The Original Series" (ST:TOS) to "Next Generation" and "Deep Space Nine" and even "Voyager" and the Gamma Quadrant. The graphics are excellent and the text is mostly entertaining. Unfortunately I already peeled off and mailed the two included postcards some years ago. Also, my ...

Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country (Star Trek)10 reviews
J.M. Dillard

Pocket, 1992

Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country A great novelization!
From her first Star Trek novelization, "Star Trek V The Final Frontier," J.M. Dillard has been the "go to" author for Pocket Books when it comes to the novelizations for the movies and the novelization of Star Trek Deep Space Nines pilot episode, "Emissary." This is deservedly so, her work in the novelizations of such important events in the Star Trek genre have been exceptional, and this novel ...

Star Trek Generations (Star Trek The Next Generation)11 reviews
J. M. Dillard, Ronald D. Moore, ...

Star Trek, 1994

STNG - Star Trek Generations - An excellent novelization!
Star Trek "Generations" represents J.M. Dillard's fourth Star Trek movie novelization. Of course there's a good reason she's done the novelizations for every movie since Star Trek V "The Final Frontier" and the novelization for Star Trek Deep Space Nine's premier episode "Emissary," she's extraordinarily good at it and this one is no exception! When a reader picks up the novelization for an ...

Demons (Star Trek, No 30)5 reviews
J.M. Dillard

Star Trek, 1986

A genuine chiller
This book is the second of J.M. Dillard's "dark" TOS novels(the first being "Mindshadow",and the third being "Bloodthirst",look for these novels too, their all good, but not for the faint-hearted),and in my opinion, the best. The book is genuinely chilling, and some parts really made me shiver uncomfortably(bittersweet ending, though). There are parts that are very sweet, however, without being ...

Recovery (Star Trek, Book 73)6 reviews
J.M. Dillard

Star Trek, 1995

One of the best...
I first read Recovery in Middle School and I picked it back up recently to see if it was as good as I remembered it. It was. I really liked how the book seemed to focus on more than just the original cast like the first two movies did. Also J. M. Dillard was able to really set the stage for The Motion Picture with this book. It begins to show how the characters have so drastically change ...

Star Trek, the Next Generation Sketchbook: The Movies, Generations & First Contact3 reviews
John Eaves, J.M Dillard

Star Trek, 1998

NextGen Sketchbook best non-fic Trek in thirty years
I interviewed John Eaves two years ago and first heard about this book at that time; I am more than slightly relieved to say that it was worth the wait! Profusely illustrated -- with artwork that has NOT already appeared everywhere else -- the book is both reader- and Trekkie-friendly, with brief anecdotes which humanize the filmmaking process while also supplementing the nice pics. Eaves' ...

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier8 reviews
J.M. Dillard, David Loughery, ...

Star Trek, 1989

Better than the Movie
Star Trek V, the Novel, is much better than the movie. There is so much more depth and adventure that the movie really shows that it was cut up pretty badly in post production. Even though this is one of the weakest of the Star Trek movies, it is still great reading!

Star Trek The Lost Years4 reviews
J. M. Dillard

Pocket Books, 1989

Consistant characters, action, and a good plot.
This was the first Star Trek novel I read. I was wondering what the significance of some of the subplots were until the very end. The ending of this book was one of the best I've read. Great foreshadowing for the movies. You have to really be a fan to like it, but the characters in the book were consistent with the the tv/movie characters. All in all, this nerdess gives it two thumbs up. ...

Star Trek: "Where No One Has Gone Before" : A History in Pictures (Star Trek (Trade/hardcover))3 reviews
J. M. Dillar

Pocket Books, 1994

An illustrated love letter to Star Trek....
Over the years, many books have been written about Star Trek's growth from a popular-yet-low-rated television series to the huge cultural phenomenon it is today. Some are strictly technical (Gene Roddenberry and Stephen Whitfield's The Making of Star Trek), others are a mix of in-depth analysis and insider's insights (David Gerrold's The World of Star Trek), while still others are personal ...

Possession (Star Trek: The Next Generation, No. 40)14 reviews
J.M. Dillard, Kathleen O'Malley

Star Trek, 1996

The best of horror-suspense Trek.
This is a sequel to Dillard's Original Series book Demons. The possessing, evil aliens are back and set on taking over the Enterprise and then the galaxy. The writing of this book shows true quality. It has exactly the right mixture of suspense, macabre scenes, action and flashes of humour. It starts out and stays sombre, but without getting morbid and depressing as most of Dillard's books do. ...

The Lost Years (Star Trek)17 reviews
J. M. Dillard

Pocket Books, 1989

Filling in some of the blanks in Star Trek lore
As a Star Trek fan, I had often wondered how, exactly, the five-year mission of the Starship Enterprise had finished. Had it ended with a dramatic confrontation with either the Romulans or Klingons...with Enterprise limping home scarred yet proud? Why did Jim Kirk accept promotion to the Admiralty? Why did Mr. Spock and Dr. Leonard McCoy leave Starfleet? At least some of the major questions ...
