When one says used you do not know what condition it really in. At Amazon.com anything I have purchased has been in the best condition for used books. I have not been discouraged with loose pages, extremly marked up pages, it's just like it is right of the book store. I'm greatful for Amazon and they have saved me hundreds of dollars. I bought an American History book that picks up the period ...

"They Say": Ida B. Wells and the Reconstruction of Race (New Narratives in American History)1 review
James West Davidson

Oxford University Press, USA, 2008

A Scholarly Narrative Attempt
This great book on Ida B. Wells is not and explicitly does not try to be a biography but rather a scholarly narrative history. This is a noble attempt for which the book deserves praise since the historical narrative has long been a neglected and maligned form of serious history in a field dominated by scholarly monographs. Instead of chronicling all Ida's life as do traditional biographies ...

The Sovereign Individual: Mastering the Transition to the Information Age60 reviews
James Dale Davidson, William Rees-Mogg

Touchstone, 1999

Predictions are Finally Coming True
Keep in mind that this book was written around 1997, before 9/11/2001. It is summer 2008 and the "US empire" is in decline. The US debt is quickly approaching the $10 trillion mark. (that is a one with thirteen zeros behind it) The US dollar is in decline. The US financial markets are in meltdown mode. The FDIC has taken over IndyMac, more banks to follow. The government is talking about ...

After the Fact, with Primary Source Investigator CD: The Art of Historical Detection4 reviews
James West Davidson, Mark Lytle

McGraw-Hill Humanities/Social Sciences/Languages, 2004

History made exciting
For those lucky enough to stumble upon this volume on historical methods, an exciting array of stories awaits you. This book was supplemental reading in my introduction to history class. I've always enjoyed history but never more so than when I scanned the chapters of "After the Fact". Each story brings the past to life and calls into question the nature of historical interpretation and ...

Voice over IP Fundamentals (2nd Edition)19 reviews
Jonathan Davidson, James Peters, ...

Cisco Press, 2006

Not a beginners book
I picked this up on a whim and found it rather hard to read due to the level of plain detail. The first few chapters especially about SS7 were exceptionally dry and a bit of a snoozer. They read more like an RFC rather then a teaching tool. This book does need some prior knowledge. If you are a beginner and lack knowledge about telephony and networks; you will read it and probably not ...

After the Fact, Volume II, with Primary Source Investigator CD: The Art of Historical Detection1 review
James West Davidson, Mark Lytle

McGraw-Hill Humanities/Social Sciences/Languages, 2004

good but i'd reccommend the longer version
this book covers most of the things my professor goes over but i think there's a more complete version because he references things as in the book that aren't in mine.
