Ritual Death Magic
Blood Rites (2004) is the sixth urban fantasy novel in the Harry Dresden series, following Death Masks. In the previous volume, John Marcone grabbed the Shroud from Nicodemus and jumped off the train into the river. Michael Carpenter attacked Nicodemus and was overwhelming him, but then Nicodemus pulled a gun and shot Michael several times through his breastplate. Harry temporarily overcame ...

Dresden Files
I have read every one of the Dresden Files Books by Jim Butcher. Love them. I got acqainted with his character Harry Dresden when the SciFi channel did a series based on these books. Each one is better and better. Word to the wise....read these books in numerical order in order to enjoy to the fullest extent. I love the recurring characters, Dresden's sense of humor, etc.

Great Series!
These books are great! If you love science fiction you will love these books. The author is funny, witty and holds your interest from cover to cover. I ordered the complete set and read through it in a week! I hope they bring the television series back to SciFi. It is more entertaining a series that SciFi brought back, Dr. Who, or as I call it "the doctor's non habit forming sleep remedy"! ...

The Dresden series
In book two of The Dresden file books, Harry Dresden is yet again called to another murder. This time, the body has been shredded and torn apart by something that is not human. That is why Harry is called in, to find out what is causing all the chaos. Again, this story is a quick read, and very entertaining. You do not have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy this book. If you like a good murder ...

White Night (The Dresden Files, Book 9)114 reviews

Great Book
Butcher is a wonderful writer and this book continues the trend. Not Gone with the Wind or Tale of two Cities. But as far as crime/investigator novels go it's wonderful.

Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, Book 4)73 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc, 2002

A series that only gets better
With the Dresden Files, Jim Butcher is doing the impossible--writing a series that gets more entertaining with every book. Easily the best fantasy series on the market today, I'd even go so far as to say that the Dresden Files novels are as good as, if not better than another series of books with a guy name Harry in them. The fourth book in the series "Summer Knight" is one that will not ...

Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, Book 7)91 reviews
Jim Butcher

Roc, 2006

Dead Beat is Dead Best!
Jim Butcher pulls out all the stops on his maniacally wild imagination in this installment of the Dresden Files. This is absolutely my favorite Dresden book. I don't know how Butcher can ever top this one, but I'm willing to read every line of every new book he writes while he tries.

Cursor's Fury (Codex Alera, Book 3)52 reviews
Jim Butcher

Ace, 2007

Pleasantly suprised
I have waited a long time before purchasing the first book of the codex Alera, because I was afraid it would be a disappointment compared to the Dresden files. I have to admit however that the codex Alera books are at least as well written as the Dresden files. The books contain everything you could want as a fantasy fan. A likeable hero, good supporting characters, a plot spanning all the books, ...

Backup
Jim Butcher

Subterranean, 2008

Let's get something clear right up front. I'm not Harry Dresden. Harry's a wizard. A genuine, honest-to-goodness wizard. He's Gandalf on crack and an IV of Red Bull, with a big leather coat and a .44 revolver in his pocket. He'll spit in the eye of gods and demons alike if he thinks it needs to be done, and to hell with the consequences--and yet somehow my little brother manages to remain a decent human being. I'll be damned if I know how. ...

Paranormal Adventures - Harry Dresden
Having read the books and enjoyed them, I thought that having them as audiobooks would be interesting. Another voice that could bring the world/ stories to life. Well they are well worth buying, the story teller James Marsters is amazing as Harry and the totally entertains the listener. I recommend these books as an amazing way to pass long journeys or spare time. I'm looking forward to the ...

Fun, Wierd Weddings!
This was an enjoyable read. I've always liked short stories, especially since I had kids and can't devote as much time to reading anymore. Each of these stories was entertaining and got me interested in other works by each of the authors. Don't have a lot of time to devote to a single story? Pick up this book. It will have what you need!My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding

Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, Book 1)67 reviews
Jim Butcher

Ace, 2005

A Unique new series, very compelling story telling.
I like many recent purchasers bought this book because of knowledge of the Author and 'The Dresden Files'. Quite by accident was my purchase actually. I was in an airport, had lost my copy of Dresden Book 1 while traveling and bough it, and then grabbed the next one thinking I'd have time to read it on my 5 hr flight. Upon initially starting to read it, my disgust with buying the wrong book ...

Jim Butcher

Ace, 2006

A Thief in the Night
Academ's Fury (2005) is the second fantasy novel in the Codex Alera series, following Furies of Calderon. In the previous volume, Doroga -- head of the Gargant Horde -- led his and other Marat hordes against Atsurak's warriors and broke the siege of the Calderon Garrison. Fidelias forced the evidence of the betrayal from Tavi and returned it to Lady Acquitaine. Countess Amara sent her report ...
