best kids cookbook out there!
This has to be the best cookbook for kids ever written. I remember loving this book as a young girl and checking it out of the library constantly. The reason that I liked it so much is because, not only does it give you recipies, but it also follows a storyline. I also loved this book because the recipies werent too complicated and actually WORKED, which was very important for me, the ...

I'm Still Me
I found this book to be very helpful in understanding why we make some of the decisions we do in our lifes. I have passed this book on to many people, especially those who are married to women who went through a divorce. It opens up lines of communication. It's nice to know we are not alone and there are others that have gone through difficult times and with God's help have come full circle.

Where Wonders Prevail
The only book that gave me so much of inspiration after the Bible is the book 'Where Wonders Prevail'. After a day of stress that we humans go through, this book gives us the assurance that someone loves and cares for us, which is enough to bring us through another day.

Uplifting and Inspirational
I had read "Where Wonders Prevail" by Joan Wester Anderson a couple of years ago and loved it. So, I was very excited to see this new book by Anderson, "Guardian Angels: True Stories of Answered Prayers" at the library. I wasn't disappointed. "Guardian Angels" shares the same format, offering examples of divine intervention in people's lives - mysterious Good Samaritans who appear out of nowhere ...

Young gardeners
... Long before [my daughter] was born I discovered the wonderful books by the two Swedish women Lena Anderson and Christina Bjørk. They have made several books together, one of them is Linneas Almanac. Linnea is a little girl we meet in several of their books, and in this one we follow her for a year, taking part in all her garden activities. There are 12 chapters in the book, one for each ...

This is the best kid's gardening book!
This is a book about a girl named Linnea, the book is kind of like Linnea's garden journal because she is telling the reader what she did that day in her garden while explaining how you can plant those things too. It explains how to plant beans, avocado plants and lots more, It also tells you how to get rid of bugs, and it shows you different kinds of common bugs in gardens. This book really ...

A Trip into the creative capacity and vision of an artist through the eyes of innocent wonder
In 1988 I begged my Principal(I was a teacher in the Salinas valley) to purchase a set of this book.I taught in the "middle of nowhere " that now holds a good chunk of my heart. This was the time of teaching through literature sets, wholly in love with language, and inspiring children by creating together environments to make meaning and to find "context" for learning. It was a time to motivate ...

Finding Your Authentic Self: A Fine Book For Men As Well
It is a sad reality that so many people have their identities molded by the wants and needs of others. And I think that few would dispute that this is more likely to happen to women. There are powerful social and perhaps biological reasons why this might be. But the important point is that there are millions of people who are not fulfilling their potential. And there are many men who are stuck in ...

Great Interactive Book for All Children!
This is a wonderfully written interactive book for all kids -- and adults too! Although the theme about the damage caused by labeling kids is geared toward ADHD, the book and its theme apply to all forms of "labeling" and "name-calling." The story about Buster and his friend Jason is fun and engaging and flows beautifully with the theme. The interactive aspects, including the music CD, made ...

"Coffee cups can be more beautiful than fancy sculptures"
"Long long ago, back when the world was young-that is, sometime around 1958- a lot of artists and composers and other people who wanted to do beautiful things began to look at the world around them in a new way (for them)." In the spirit of Fluxus is a great starting point for exploring a time when Art still occurred in movements. Fluxus was an exciting, and for some, a confusing period that ...

Flight fuels imagination
My five year old son and three year old daughter still ask for this library book we loaned many times over. So many current children's books fill in all the details for kids, failing to challenge them, whereas Harry's flight of fancy in decidely low tech cardboard toy gives high calibur pleasure for budding imaginations. This selection is certainly worth purchasing.

Great Pioneer Book
This is a great pioneer book. It is about a fictionist family-the Carpenters-who travels from Pennsylvania to Illinois in the mid 1800s. They encounter death, low water, marriage, and a wonderful feast. I would recommend this book for anybody interested in pioneers. This is a great tie-in book for a history unit, but also great for pleasure reading.

Historical
This book successfully recaptures images of the original pilgrims of Plymouth colony celebrating the first Thanksgiving from the first crops the first year they landed in 1620. They celebrated with the Wampanoags Indians. The book mostly consists of these pictures with about a paragraph a page. My family has celebrated thanksgiving every year since I was a baby. In the 1800s, the 5th president ...

Terry Dolan's Hiberno-English
This is a pioneering work which belongs on the shelf of any linguist, any student of Ireland, and anyone interested in gaining a knowledge of 'Irishness'. It is an invaluable source of knowledge and renders important insights into the state of the English language in Ireland. English, as Joyce described it, is both 'familiar and foreign' to Ireland; Terry Dolan's work demonstrates how the Irish ...
