Cannibalizing on Manolakis' other book?!
I just got it the other day, and saw much more changes than was originally reported. Most of the deletions are in the earlier chapters dealing with basic concepts of DSP (something usually dealt with in a senior undergraduate class on DSP), while the additions are mostly in the later chapters dealing with more advanced concepts - stuff usually dealt with in an advanced/graduate level course. ...

Excellet handbook for system identification background
It's very very useful book for system identification specially newstarted, because of the fact that system identification is heavily related DFT, FFT, Spectral Analysis, Wiener-Khinchine relations and so on. Congratulations !!!

Best of the Best
If you want a really good book to understand DSP using Matlab , there is no other book that even comes close to this. Lucidly written, with plenty of examples, this book brings you the utter joy of learning DSP by using it. It is really fortunate that DSP has such a good stream of books form the likes of Richard Lyons to the venerable Oppenheim to the practical Proakis. This is the one book ...

Great material
Covers the material very well. Easy to understand and read. Only downfall is the lack of more worked examples and explanations on the steps taken to complete the example.

Great Conceptual Reference
This book covers many aspects of speech signal processing. In doing so, it is a great conceptual primer, but people with specific interests in one aspect or other of speech signal processing may look into other books. I have found it very valuable in clarifying certain concepts and an essential reference for my thesis. Some readers may find this book frustrating in some aspects because they ...

Best book for Communication
I strongly suggest this book for anybody willing to understand the basics of communication and beyond. Be prepared for some high level mathematics. Some of the proves are not worked out into the fine details. It assumes that you are smart enough to work it out the "minutia" of some proves.

Perfect but aging companion to Discrete Time Signal Processing
This book does exactly what it purports to do - it teaches the reader how to perform signal processing tasks using Matlab. It starts out with signals and systems and moves on to the DTFT, the Z Transform, the DFT, digital filter structures including both IIR and FIR design, and finally covers some advanced topics in adaptive signal processing and communications. It even contains full-blown ...

Of unusually high quality for a Proakis text
The is a superb book. My only complaint with this text is that it should have been included with Proakis' Digital Communication book in the first place. You will notice that 90% of the graphs and diagrams are straight from that text. One of the winning ingredients is that all the Matlab code is written to be understood. Where some texts will write all code to be as optimal as possible, this book ...
