Challanging and Rewarding
North American Animals in Origami is one of my favorites. While most of the models took me a few stabs at the results are very rewarding. Montroll's style and clearly defined directions make his models a joy and challenge to fold. Here is the following models in "North American Animals in Origami": Duck, Swan, Heron, Roadrunner, Saguaro Cactus, Prickly-Pear Cactus, Jack Rabbit, Mouse, ...

Partial Reprint
Having not heard of this book and being unable to find out anything about it, I took the risk and ordered it (after all, the price was low enough that I was risking very little). I was expecting something along the lines of Montroll's smaller, staple-bound books (i.e. BIRDS IN ORIGAMI, FAVORITE ANIMALS IN ORIGAMI, or even ORIGAMI AMERICAN STYLE). What I found was something different. This is a ...

A Great Start
As always, I'm amazed at how quickly my items ship through Amazon. This is a great starter book. Yes, as other reviewers said, it is very basic- but I haven't done Origami for 30+ years and wanted to start from scratch learning my folds again. Also, I chose this on an Amazon recommendation grouped with other items- a fantastic asset in buying from Amazon- so the price was just unbelievable. I ...

Animals, Animals, and More Animals..
This is a great book for experienced folders. This one along with North American Animals makes a great pair. One thing I find missing in most reviews is the contents is so here it is. There are 24 models in African Animals in Origami and they are Grass, Tree, Sacred Ibis, Crowned Crane, Flamingo, Crocodile, Hippopotamus, Snake, Chameleon, Bee-Eater, Hoopoe, Hornbill, Gorilla, Chimpanzee, ...

The Perfect Beginner Book
I have several beginner to intermediate instructionals on origami. I haven't folded every model in any of them yet, but I have read through all of them and this one is absolutely the best of the bunch for the new-comer trying to get the basics. This book does something I love a lot. Instead of having an introduction that teaches you all the basic folds and bases and then going into a chapter ...

Awesome and Epic
This book has nearly 40 different models of origami from the frog to a dolphin, a sea shell, several different fishes like a shark, barracuda, and simpler fishes. But the models get difficult very quickly. A few are for beginners, most are for the more experienced veterans, especially the lobster and urchins. Well worth the money though if you are a fan of Montroll and Lang.

Easy and fun for ages 10 and up
I brought this book home at the start of a 3-day weekend at a cabin without TV or Internet. It helped keep both kids happy for hours. Most of the models my 10 and 11 year old's could do without any help from me. While you can cut pieces of paper to the right size and shape to practice with, using actual dollar bills is more fun. At one point, I was running out to the store to grab something we ...

Easily the best origami book out there.
This is easily my favorite book on origami. All the diagrams are clear, the models are very detailed, and more importantly, all of them are an awful lot of fun to make, and very rewarding. While it has models from the whole range of difficulty levels, it focuses primarily on the advanced folder. A little bit of history- my parents bought me this book about 15 years ago, I couldn't have been ...

Montroll Shows His Best, Again.
A book about dinosaurs folded from paper, a simple idea, really. But take a deeper look, and this is one of the most engaging origami books on the subject ever-for that matter, perhaps it is one of the best origami books ever. I know it is one of my top ten books. Enough praise, you want to know what's in it. Well, as Montroll usually does, the beginning models are so easy, I think you could ...

Good collection of bird models
This is actually a good collection of Montroll's birds. I find folding Montroll's birds a good break from some of the more complicated models and the book's price can't be beat. There are 15 models of birds consisting of a Duck, Swan, Goose, Flamingo, Pelican, Heron, Pheasant, Seagull, Hummingbird, Cardinal, Cormorant, Stork, Eagle, Canary, and Parrot. Although if you are looking for a book to ...

Montroll's best book yet!
John Montroll has done it again with his newest book, Bringing Origami to Life. I think that the book is wonderful in that the models can all be wet folded, which allows them to be shaped and molded to suit the folder. My personal favorite is the howling coyote...which, looks incredible folded from grey paper! The seamless backs help to make the models more three dimensional as well. This ...

Easy Christmas Origami
Definitely a must for the kids who are starting off. Good layout and easy diagrams had my class of 7 and 8 year olds engrossed. Not just for the Christmas season, many designs would suit other needs. The kids didn't need much assistance to achieve great results.

I like the martian. I made one for the fourth of July and then blew him up with a firework tank and we used a piccolo pete for the scream.

Dollar Bill Animals in Origami
This is such a fun book. I send my 7 grandchildren a greeting card and a dollar every month since they were born. I know how much kids like to get mail, so now that they are older, I decided to start sending them Origami folded dollars in their cards. This book has clear directions and good illustrations, so I found it to be easy to follow. Don't be afraid to try this paper money folding . It is ...

The FINEST book of Montroll!!
In this book Montroll not only makes some of the best animal models so far but also creates systems of folding 4-leg animals and 6-leg insects. The folding steps in each model are very natural, with great logic and wits. Montroll is so scintillating in these designs that he creates 2 outstanding origami bases, Montroll's Dog base and Montroll's Insect base. In application of these 2 bases many ...

One of the first, and best books, by John Montroll
John Montroll is considered on of the premier folders of animal origami, certainly in the US, if not the world. I actually had the pleasure of folding some of his models he was still working on for one of his books, when a member of the local origami club. His newer books certainly have cleaner, crisper diagrams, but this book has a lot of my favorite models, and is still well worth the cost. ...

Finally a Montroll book on insects.....
As usual I have always looked forward to Montroll's books. Even after getting this one, I cannot help but wonder what he will come up with next. A general comment is that is book's models is of intermediate standard, similar in standard and style to Montroll's recent books. The birds can be classified as slightly below the intermediate standard suitable for beginners who wants to try something a ...

A Plethora of Precreasing - Single-sheet shapes!
Fans of John Montroll's other books will know that he tends to follow a fixed set of ideas. These are that the paper should be square and that only one sheet should be used. Outside of a few basic shapes (cubes and pyramids mostly), the use of a single sheet in creating polyhedra is not very widespread. Montroll uses this book to show up that it needs not be the case. Montroll shows how a ...
