The Underdog: Seeking the Meaning of Life in the World's Most Outlandish Competitions1 review
Joshua Davis

Villard, 2006

Fun Fluff -
I bought this book to read while recovering from surgery. The author categorizes his attempts at "being special" - through bullfighting, sumo wresting, arm wrestling, sauna sitting, etc... It was fun and a quick read and occasionally caused me to chuckle. It wasn't great- but it was a fun read.

That's a very good book for designers. There are a lot of tricks, but you will not find subjects like take a first glance to flash 5 or things like that.

The Underdog: How I Survived the World's Most Outlandish Competitions31 reviews
Joshua Davis

Villard, 2005

Giving geeks around the world hope for a better future
A quick read; fun and emotionally transparent. Our little hero graces his way through eccentric adventure after eccentric adventure, all the while proving that even the least talented among us can be champions (or at least, very nearly so). There is a tenderness in this book. In its Quixotic madness, it transports us into worlds of danger, adventure, greatness, and saunas in Finland. A true ...

Flash to the Core18 reviews
Joshua Davis

New Riders Publishing, 2002

Excellent Book
This is an excellent book for both beginners and intermediate Flash designers. Joshua Davis did a great job of writing this. It is very easy to understand and follow (none of that jumbled jargon that you get lost in). The CD with demos and the website are wonderful. I keep this with me at work and loan it to friends and co-workers interested in learning more about Flash.

Aim to Grow Your Brain6 reviews
Joanne M. Billingsley

Dog Ear Publishing, LLC, 2009

Getting Kids To Believe!!!!
There are lots of books coming out explaining to teachers the new science concerning brain growth and pages of activities teachers can do in the classroom to facilitate that growth. These may be great activities but of no value unless my students believe they have the power to "become "smarter. Without this belief in them selves these activities have little chance of having much of any affect on ...

The Lighthouse: Poems to light the way
Jason C Davis

CreateSpace, 2010

There is a guiding light that God shines down Upon the pathways that we are taking. Whether we are at home, on the sea, or on the highway. No matter where we are He sends a light to guide us. He sends these lights, these beacons, through the preaching of the Bible. He illuminates the situations we are in, through something we read or hear. He shines a light at all times through His Word, which is always a light unto our paths. I pray ...

Amazing book- about as great as the exhibit itself
This book is an excellent companion to the great exhibit, but also good on its own. It is bound well and has glossy pics of the art as well as explanations and commentary by the artists. A wonderful book

Milton's Marilyn: The Photographs Of Milton H. Greene4 reviews
James Kotsilibas-Davis, Edited by Joshua Greene, ...

Schirmer/Mosel, 2001

One of the best
This is certainly an amazing collection of photographs of Marilyn gleaned from the few years she and Milton Greene collaborated. This teaming of a brilliant photographer with a brilliant subject was perfect. Despite their ill-fated business partnership, the photographs produced transcended the abrupt end of their friendship and some of the most beautiful are showcased in this book. Greene was one ...
