an entertaining epic fantasy

Nice book
I gave this 5 stars because it is written by a "real" person not claiming to be more enlightened than anybody else. You can sense the genuineness of the author's intent in this book. It's an easy read.

This is a GREAT resource book!
I found this gem at the library, now I'm going to buy a copy for myself! There are so many great ideas in here! I've read other books on the subject but haven't been very impressed. These ideas are practical, inexpensive, and clever. It includes recipes for things like playdough, and instructions for making your own affordable alternatives. Karen Miller had spent over twenty years in the ...

Simply the Best
I read an excerpt of this book on Sci-fi.com and decided to give it a chance despite the bad reviews and I'm glad I did. I absolutely loved this book. The character development of Hekat was completely believable. I think the reason for most of the bad reviews was that a woman could be so focused, so dedicated, strong, and ruthless qualities usually found in a ambitious male. We as a society are ...

Too close to the archetype, but fun anyway.
So, this is supposed to be an epic fantasy. It almost goes without saying, then, that the story will follow the "hero's journey" archetype -- essentially all epic fantasy does. The trouble is, the story is just too thin. There isn't enough dressing on the archetype, and the "bones" show through. It doesn't help that the pacing is very slow, and that few things of actual consequence occur ...

Awesome finish.
The Innocent Mage introduced us to a Lur full of life, vibrant and peaceful. The Awakened Mage, however, takes us into a Lur where Morg, an immortal mage with a vendetta from beyond the Wall, may destroy everything that Asher, a simple Olken, has grown to love. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, and found myself enjoying this one just as much, if not more. Karen Miller proves ...

Another Tok'ra mission that goes pear-shaped
The back cover of the book says, "All SG-1 wanted was technology to save Earth from the Goa'uld, but the mission to Euronda was a terrible failure. Now the dogs of Washington are baying for Jack O'Neill's blood - and Senator Robert Kinsey is leading the pack. When Jacob Carter asks General Hammond for SG-1's participation in a mission for the Tok'ra, it seems like the answer to O'Neill's ...

Awesome book
This is an awesome book. There are tons of activities to do with babies in it, and most of them do not require you to go out and buy expensive things. The activities in this book strenghthen baby's motor, language, cognitive, etc skills and use items you already have around your house. It's definitely worth the money.

A resource book that lives up to its potential!
As I said: A resource book that lives up to its potential! Every book chosen is high-quality (anyone experienced in caring for under-threes will recognize virtually every title). Every activity chosen has developmental--not educational, but developmental--value. The authors avoid the ABCs and 123s for babies and toddlers and focus on what is really important: language exposure, interaction ...

Something this wicked this way comes now and forever
This book that entails the life of a black woman, Shanika whose parents are both light skinned blacks ends up looking more like her great grandparents. The story has a modern twist to the movie the Imitation of Life, but in this case, Shanika did not deliberately decide to pass for white or did she? It was thought provoking and also brings the reality that there is truly one race. As mankind, we ...

Passion for Raw
As a living foodist who's read practically ever raw foods book over the past 30 years (eat-sprouts.com), I loved "Feel-Good Food" where the authors' passion is human potential and making this diet workable for everyone, no matter where they're starting from. The book's focus is on Intuitive Eating--What is it? Why is it so powerful? It shows you how to overcome internal blocks which prevent you ...
