Winnetou
I'm born of West Indian parents, lived in Germany from age 3 to 12, and at that tender age, I naturally spoke fluent German, but I have never been back since 1967 - I'm almost 50 now! But I'll always remember my love affair with the Winnetou series by Karl May. I remember spending countless days and nights inhaling novel after novel. Our next door neighbor's kid had a huge, leather-bound ...

The Ghost of Llano Estacado
Karl May; Herbert Windolf

Nemsi Books, 2005

The Spanish name Llano Estacado, meaning Staked Plain, is part of the high plains of the United States, located west of today?s Lubbock, Texas. It covers an area of about 30,000 square miles, extending to the state of New Mexico. It is a strikingly flat and monotonous area at an elevation of between 3,000-4,000 feet. Local water-retaining depressions and washes that, due to the meager rainfall, rarely hold water occasionally break this semiarid ...

Winnetou - The Apache Knight (Classic Westerns Series) (Classic Westerns Series)5 reviews
Karl May, Karl Friedrich May

Diggory Press, 2007

wholesome, fabulous read
I read most of Karl May's stories as a child. They were at that time translated into Czech. The stories are everything you could ask for. There is adventure, mystery, etc. You name it and it's in there. Deep down there are also non-assuming messages on how to be a good person. These books shaped my views on bigotry in a way no speech or lesson ever could have.
